Johnny Depp may currently be playing his trade as the mischievous Jack Sparrow in the latest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series; Dead Men Tell No Tales, but he was more than happy to jump off set and visit sick children at a hospital in Queensland, Australia.
Depp surprised kids at the Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane by turning up as the roguish pirate captain he made famous back in 2003, chatting to them and taking selfies. He is known to carry the costume around in case of impromptu visits.
props to depp...I bet the kids loved it.
May God bless him for this act of kindness.
Good for Johnny and the kids.
Don’t know where he stands on the issues that count, but I’ve seen several stories of him being... you know... human in his acts of kindness towards the “unwashed masses,” so good on him.
Kids love homosexual pirates.
Very cool.
he’s been doing this for a few years now. he travels with the costume just for such occasions. usually there’s no publicity, but here’s an article referencing this. it says he’s been doing since 2009.
Haha, he wasn’t “gay” in those movies. He was always cavorting with prostitutes...and nuns...
Not one of his fans, but I will tip my hat. That was a class act.
Thou shalt not badmouth the wonderfully flamboyant Captain Jack.
Besides, he’s super tight with Alice and often jams with him.
Arrrrrh!
:)
37 Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?
40 The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
“If you had a sister and a dog I’d choose the dog.”
- Capt. Jack Sparrow
I saw this a couple of days ago, I think on Fox, thought it was cool as it could be. I don’t know or care about his politics, I think this is a great thing to do. IF you didn’t see it, you should have seen the looks on those kids’ faces...first one to spot him ran over and hugged him. He had a big smile going too.
