They’re going to have to throw a major bone to the LGBT perverts if this sequel is ever to get off the ground (pun intended).
Paulie’s prediction: Maverick is gay, his RIO is transgender, Charlie is a lesbo, Ice Man and Hollywood are hard core homosexual.
Everyone else is straight, but they all show their approval and support for LGBT issues.
Top Gun school will include a required course on sensitivity training and safe sex. Viper will be the instructor. Viper won’t know who he really is; he’s ‘struggling with it’.
I’ll bet I’m pretty close.

Cruise will play a drone pilot and spend all his time in a trailer in a soft chair, in a flight suit with a scarf wrapped around his neck playing video combat.
The super footage will be of his drone buzzing around, shooting down the pesky Chinese flying their black-painted F-4s/F-5s/maybe F-16s...
