Like Rinos they come packaged and present themselves for appeal.
Im not sure anymore if I want to buy Chunk or Solid, given their labels its hard to tell the difference. And really, whats the difference between Chunk and Solid? Whats the difference in the meanings of the words they chose?
Why cant they be clearer?
Prepackaged for your convenience and ready for your consumption.
Im going to repeal this and return that and before too long you realize that this is not what you thought you bought, you got a can full of mush. But I love Tuna Fish and Ill probably keep buying it as Ill keep voting for Chunk. I think, or maybe Solid. I bought a can of Chicken of the Sea once, and voted for Bush 41, after I nearly choked on a bone I vowed Never again. But I love Tuna Fish.
In oil or water?
Read the label carefully.
Tuna Fish is just like Salsa, I still dont know the difference between Mild and Medium. I want HOT Salsa and I want to know its going to have some sting. I want them to say why they are different, why they will sting. But words and labels seem to have lost their way while we feel the sting in ways unimagined.
The road to mediocrity finds its home in stupidity. Fast food.
I cant stand going to a fast food joint and asking for a small drink and they say We dont have a small. What ? We have medium, large and extra large What? I dont really care what you call it, just give me the smallest drink size you have. Never mind asking for salt and pepper. They give you five or six packets of salt, each one alone is enough to kill a man, and one pepper if youre lucky. Is this what they think you or I want? Is this what they would put on this meal if they were eating it? I dont think so. And they all assume you want like fifteen packages of ketchup. I really dont like ketchup.
Are they just assuming or responding or projecting?
They, like our current lineup of Rinos are certainly not asking.
I love Tuna Fish.
Our cat will only eat the White Solid ,it’s has the be the expensive stuff ,LOL
Small cans of tuna= EBT eligible cat food!
Is it possible to get Atlantic caught tuna (in a can) anywhere? We haven’t had tuna salad in sooo long.
Absolutely love tuna. Developed a sea food allergy about five years ago and a can of it nearly killed me. My throat swelled almost shut. Scared me something awful.
One man looked at me in concern and asked me if I was all right. I got up and was fine but a little shaken. Thanked him and went on my way.
It was obviously a bad omen :-(.
FWIW I don't like fresh tuna. And I only buy water packed chunk tuna, Starkist I think, the double can. One is never enough when I used it for tuna salad or cooking.
Solid tuna is just what it says on the can. A solid piece of tuna, usually white I think, cut the right size to fit the can.
I love canned smoked oysters and herring, too. I like most of the other fresh fish but some of it is too pricey.
Since we’ll have to get used to living in the internment camps pretty soon, just make mine a couple of macks:

We buy 12 oz cans of “solid” white packed in water. The last few times (several years ago) I bought “chunk”, it was so watery as to barely be usable. And now the 6 oz cans have gone down to 5 oz. The ones we get are about $3.98 per can, and almost never on sale. I think both main brands are about the same price.
I avoid foods prepared with soy.
Soy mimics estrogen in the body. It grows man boobs.
Chunk white albacore in water, drain, add a little chopped white onion, lemon juice, celery, green onion, kosher or seasoning salt, cracked black pepper, maybe a leaf of crisp iceberg, rye bread & Helmans—fast and delish.

Sorry, that’s all I have to contribute to the discussion.
>>”But words and labels seem to have lost their way while we feel the sting in ways unimagined.”<<
For mild, medium, hot & extra-hot, it’s often a marketing gimmick to have a range of labels that in taste do not necessarily differentiate (the 1st two), or if they do, the difference is not that noticeable on the palate.
But the label itself is aimed at attracting a wide range of (”fussy”) consumers, and differentiating the product from competitors.
I’ve so far not seen a “solid” label for canned tuna in Australia. We’ve “chunks”, and sandwich tuna (more shredded - hmm forget the actual label for this one).
Also, we have canned tune in Springwater, Olive oil, Brine, or mixed Olive Oil (or something similar).
There is also a wide variety of ‘flavoured’ tuna, e.g. Mexican, Curry, Italian, Basil & Tomato, lite-mayo, etc.. etc..
I like Tuna Fish. More the ones in a glass jar sold in delis here than canned ones in supermarkets here. The ones in a glass jar sold in Delis taste more fresh.
I think brand makes a difference too in quality. In my experience so far, even the ‘home-brands’ in certain supermarkets here are fairly good quality.
“I cant stand going to a fast food joint and asking for a small drink and they say We dont have a small. What ? We have medium, large and extra large What?.”
Yeah, well stay away from Starbucks, their sizes make even less sense.
Ok, is this thread some kind of spy ring with coded messages? Freaking me out, or was it the Two Martinis I just had? Come to think of it I ordered French Martinis, witch typically is vodka, chambord and pineapple juice. Tonight instead of pineapple, they substituted it with peach juice.
Ever since tuna fish went “dolphin free” in the late ‘80s or early ‘90s it just hasn’t tasted the same.
You ought to try freshly caught Tuna.
Can’t figure what they do to tuna before they put it in those cans or packages.
But man the difference is amazing.
Once in a while instead of catching Mahi Mahi off shore here we run in to a herd of tuna and man o man!
Put that red meat in a cast iron skillet as hot as you can get it for about 2 minutes a side and WOW.
Or open a package or can and ick.
You can’t tuna fish but you can or maybe not but I can tuna guitar,
The canned stuff it good for casseroles you take to church for dinner.
I too get very annoyed when you go to fast food and you get a bunch of those disgusting condiment packages tossed in the bag. A big reason why I don't go to fast food so much anymore.
Not a big fan of canned tuna - even packed in oil or water, the meat is too dry for me and it makes me thirsty. I much prefer the canned sardines, especially those of the King Oscar brand. I call it protein in a can and that's exactly what it is.
Mediterranean style is my favorite flavor of King Oscar sardine. I just open up the tins, like Popeye, and suck those sardines down as a quick, energy-providing snack.
