Charleston mass murderer Dylann Roof is a homegrown American terrorist
The massacre of nine black women and men in Charleston’s Emanuel AME church was an act of terrorism by a white, born-in-the-U.S.A. racist armed with a gun — and magazine after magazine after magazine of ammunition.
While racial hatred gives the mass shooting the feel of an abomination from the history books, the bloodshed was an expression of two virulent cultural strains: anti-black hatred and Second Amendment extremism.
This is the America of now, a nation where suspect Dylann Storm Roof is among the thousands of whites who passionately revile African Americans, the form of group loathing that remains the nation’s most common brand of bigotry.
Roof entered the church, asked for the pastor and spent an hour in a Bible study among a dozen or so parishioners, taking advantage of the open hearts of his hosts.

Another article (AP I think) said this incident was just one more in a "long string of racially motivated events". It went on to list Ferguson, Baltimore, Trayvon, etc. as the recent "racially motivated events".
By today’s definition (not mine), I am a racist, but there can be no reason, excuse or justification for this killing. This kid is first and foremost, just plain evil.
Or the thousands of whites murdered by blacks every year. FACT : Vastly more whites are murdered by blacks every year in America than the other way round. Never seen the Daily News write any editorials about that slaughter.
SSRI medications appear to be part of his treatment. We need to look at the effect of these as they are a common thread throughout most of the mass killings.
It has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.
And I don’t think it would be worthwhile to treat everyone as if they were pychos who were ready to kill others and themselves due to the side effects of medications that are not commonly used.

In comparing the US to other countries, remember that the population of the US is 315 million, more than all the countries of western and central Europe combined. Norway, with about 1.6% of the US population, saw 77 killed 4 years ago.
And yet he only killed 9. He could have done much worse with a machete.
