As Rachel Dolezal’s story unravels on- and offline, the Internet has followed suit with questions of its own. In a recent interview, Dolezal’s parents said they’re “both of Caucasian and European descent,” and their now 37-year-old daughter — the president of Spokane’s NAACP chapter — has been pretending to be black for the last decade.
On Twitter today, several hashtags about Rachel were trending, including #transracial – a term that some users seemed to define as the idea that a person could be born as one race but assume another racial identity. The term — and the online conversation around it — was discussed in tandem with Caitlyn Jenner’s gender.

The author is an idiot.
“#transracial” isn’t phobic or racist. It is sarcastic toward a woman who will lie, cheat, and steal anything possible for her own advantage. It is derision.
It is more than what she deserves, especially given the multiple reported race-hate incidents that have now been dropped by the Seattle police like hot potatoes.
#transracial is a meme that reminds us all that people will lie about anything and everything.
But the author isn’t quite smart enough to catch that fact.

Mr. Jenner is a mentally ill man, trying to become a woman for insane reasons.
Ms. Dolezal is a sane woman changing her public identity for rational reasons, like mixed-race blacks passing as white for better career opportunities and social approval in the 1940s.
I often wonder how much damage that character did. Instead of using him as a goof and setting the ferals to mocking him, they could have made him a success story and cool for it. Might have been a far better plan. Instead, the idiot rapper and his even bigger idiot buddy got the kudos.

The lead character was a hood rat thrown into a less toxic inviroment. His friend had to be a polar opposite for the schtick to work. Also, it wouldn’t fit the agenda if a black guy who was “acting white” actually got ahead.
