A moonie wanted to give me a book. I thanked him and started to walk off. He asked for a donation. I declined. He wanted the book back. I reminded him that he "gave" it to me. He snatched the book out of my hands and said, "Nobody gives things away."
I called the cops and he took off.

I first encountered them 2 years ago on Broadway in the 20s. I think the con goes like this: a little saffron robed figure approaches you and presents you with a pad and pencil to write your name so he can pray for you and while you consider your situation he slips a cheap bracelet on you wrist. Now, having realized your mistake you thank him and hand back the pad and pencil only then are you asked for a donation.
