Former talk show host Rosie ODonnell was ready to adopt her second child, until she got some unexpected news from the doctor. Thats when the birth mother, Jami Weaver, said the child was rejected.
Jami Weaver claims that the agreement fell through when she learned her unborn child was diagnosed with gastroschisis (a congenital deformity where the bowel protrudes through the abdominal wall) last summer.
'Rosie told me she could not handle having a special needs child,' she said.
Perhaps if shed have done some research, ODonnell would have discovered that babies with gastroschisis have a 90 percent survival rate, and the disorder can often be fixed with surgery.

Probably a higher survival rate than urban black males.
Lucky kid. Seriously.
I didn’t think they let special needs adopt special needs.
The kid lucked out, imagine having to be raised by Rosie O’Donnell, that itself would be considered cruel and unusual punishment
Lucky kid. Seriously.

This “deformity” sounds like it’s no more than an abdominal hernia and can be corrected pretty easily... The kid lucked out ,, all of Rosies money wouldn’t make up for the crazy she’d have to endure.
She already has a special needs child and even wrote a book on the experience. Her son was diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder a few years ago, a disorder requiring specific therapy in language and listening skills. Maybe because I don’t have any kids can’t say I necessarily blame her for not taking on another (if that is indeed what happened).
Good news for the child.
I give her credit for not choosing to abort the child.
She wants a perfect designer child to serve as accoutrement to her lifestyle, a fashion accessory, a completion of the “Heather Has Two Moms” delusion.
Having to actually deal with the life issues of a child? Too much work.
There was a girl she gave back.
Isn’t Rowzee kinda like a little bit ‘gastroschisic’ herself? (’
Blessing in disguise kiddo having Donuts reject you.
She cannot.
Auditory Processing Disorder? What is that? Jargon for “the kid can’t hear”?
APD is an umbrella term but basically the kid has a lot of problems recognizing subtle differences between sounds and processing and remembering language-related information.
In any case, Rosie and her partner seem to have several issues, so truly it is most responsible to stay out of adopting yet another child and concentrate sorting out their problems instead of dragging another child into it.
This child is very lucky not to have Miss Coward Rosie as a mother.
Rosie needs to get a lobotomy.
My daughter has Auditory Processing Disorder and it is basically a learning issue, so it really doesn’t require extra time unless you are homeschooling (which I am). It’s under the dyslexia umbrella. - Just letting you know. :-)
Looks like Rosie was using an excuse to get out of the adoption, especially with her divorce. The kid should be thanking God every day to have been taken away from a bad situation....
I never thought I'd say this, but I admire her for her honesty.
