Mysterious Green Sea Creature Captured on Video in Taiwan
UPI ^ | June 5, 2015 | Ben Hooper

Some have suggested the creature filmed by Wei Cheng Jian in Taiwan could be a ribbon worm, or Nemertea. A man fishing in Taiwan captured video of a mysterious worm-like green sea creature crawling onto land and shared it online.

Wei Cheng Jian posted video of the creature he encountered in a Penghu port on Facebook, where commenters theorized it could be a ribbon worm, or Nemertea.

Ribbon worms have a proboscis that extends from their body while hunting, which could explain the green creature's long tongue-like appendage.

The proboscis covers the ribbon worm's prey in a thick, poisonous mucus.

The creatures usually live in the sea, but have been known to seek shelter in cool, damp areas on land.

Ribbon worms average about 7.9 inches long, but one of the creatures was known to have reached a length of 177 feet.

That’s more weird look and weird acting, than anything in the movies.

It’s the stuff of nightmares.

I can see liberals blaming that ‘creation’ on global warming; those damn republicans!

the notion that they average 7 plus inches yet have been seen as large as 177 feet is mind boggling. The largest is 300 times the size of the average, If the average height for a human is 6 feet (i know its not; easier math in my head) the equivalent would be an 1800 foot tall person.

Whaaaa? ... oh, Nemertea is a PHYLUM! This variation is not among individuals of a species, genus, family, or even a class. Well, I knew nothing about these things, so who am I to talk?

Good grief - we have slimy snails here in Ventura County! Believe they love the purple Agapanthas, for one. And our walk is lined with them! The Agapanthas, (commonly called ‘Peter Pan,’ I think) that is - Google it - -
(An aside - spouse is first generation Norwegian - both parents)
Vikings - rah!
