I know what happened. The 2 and only 2 ticket per student rule went out the window. Kids had 15 people show up to their graduation. They ran out of seats and parents suffered.

Granted, for 500 kids our building holds 5000 people so we don’t worry about things like this.

LOL, it’s not a hotel, it’s a graduation. Hotels overbook to ensure profits. Graduation ceremonies match the number of seats and the number of students and families that are going to show up - plus make room for mistakes, plus let people in to see their family members graduate anyway if there is a screw up. At least, that’s how it was back when human beings ran the schools.

Anyway, does it matter? It will be a cold day in hell before any school administrator is held responsible for the screwup, let alone punished. The same administrators who spent all year destroying minds with Common Core and forced hatred of heterosexuality and manliness, and dishing out draconian punishments under zero tolerance rules to their prison students.

But they have the same math problem. If you stop handing out tickets at capacity then a percentage don’t show up you have people who couldn’t get tickets and empty seats. If you want to not have empty seats you need to “over sell”. The problem with just letting them in is where are they going to go? You can do a bit of standing in the back but the fire marshall gets irritated if you start filling the aisles. Really if they had that much demand they probably should have picked a different venue, of course that has problems too. I wouldn’t be surprised if this school has other “over growth” problems, they just might have too many students for the building.

We hold ours at the football stadium. If it rains then we have a problem. Have to go inside with each graduate getting 3 tickets for family. When there are families that want to bring everyone from mom and dad to their 25th cousin then it chaps some of them, especially of they drove from Guadalajara to be there.

Last time I went to a HS graduation, it was for my nephew. Too many stupid people disrupting the ceremony to cheer for their relatives who were probably handed a diploma to get rid of them.

If 14 guys get into a fight and 8 of them are black, how many white guys get their asses kicked?

My girl’s was held at Blossom Music Center. Plenty of seats, and under a canopy roof. Great sound system. Very enjoyable. She was valedictorian. Not my biological daughter, but man was I proud of her! College at 16!

What I’ve seen happen here at graduations is that certain people somehow get tickets for all the in-town & out-of-town relatives they can find & they get the seats & for the others(often immediate family) it is standing room only.

too many tickets had been distributed

That's when the school board, administration and teachers give up their seats to the parents. Have the band stand outside the open doors to play, "Pomp and Circumstance." Seems simple enough but school administrators have too big egos to step down.

When I was in school in Milwaukee...the answer would have been none.....and everybody knew it.

I’m a pretty smart feller. Heck, I designed flight controls for several aircraft. I done did maths and stuff. I done do maths in my machine shop. I had to look at this stupid common core math problem 15 minutes to figure out what they are trying to accomplish.

Why would a large number of people not show up for a graduation? It’s not an issue.

Because reality happens. People get sick, kid fails a class and doesn’t graduate, house burns down. It IS an issue.
