I was pondering and found that Vermont has a population of only 626,000 with 17% more Ds than Rs. If conservatives were to move there from another state, how many would be needed to flip the state red?
Like Guam?
Haha! Like take two senate seats.
couldn’t do it, Vermont is landlocked
Problem is if you ever get any traction, the left will just match your efforts. They will always be much better funded than us.
Vermonters are a strange lot. Don’t forget they’ve been sending an avowed socialist (millionaire Bernie Sanders) to Washington DC for years now.
I’d just be happy if we could flip New Hampshire and turn that red again. And not in the Hank Johnson/Guam way, al baby!
You could flip Ohio, with fewer people, but you would have to live in Ohio.
Decades ago, Vermont was reliably Republican.
From what I have heard, so many liberal expatriate New Yorkers and Bostonians moved there, that they tipped the balance of that state. Poster boys for this are Howard Dean and Bernie Sanders. Neither is a Vermont native.
By my calculations, if about half of the adult population voted, about 12,000 conservatives would have to move there. Or conversely, they would have to remove 12,000 dead people and felons from the rolls
Why bother? It’s a whopping 3 electoral votes.
BTW, Vermont is not land locked. Lake Champlain is connected to the Hudson River via canal. One can navigate from the Atlantic Ocean to the lake.
The difference is approximately 106,420. Assuming 100% vote and your adding all Republicans then you would need at least 106,420 +1. Less if some Democrats don’t vote.
Perhaps we could ask the overseas military to declare that their home state so they could vote there. They may have to pay state income tax. (3.55 - 8.95%)
Libertarians trying the same thing in New Hampster.
It would be easier for the Dems to flip Montana and Wyoming. Lefties like moving to those places and then trying to tell them how to do things.
Assuming no Democrats left the state, it would take at least 100,000 conservatives to make the state competitive.
The Dem Candidate base vote ranges from 190,000 to 220,000
The GOP Candidate base vote ranges from 80,000 to 110,000
My heart goes out to the real Americans in Vermont. Keep the faith.
Why would you want to flip Vermont?
Then it would look like Delaware. ;)
About 9% would do it. How many actually voted in 2014?
Then again in 2012 Obama whipped Mittens by 66.57% to 30.97%
199,239 votes to 92,698
Mittens did not win a single county
Send Vermont the latest shipments of illegal aliens from Mexico and the Middle East. That ought to do it.
The downside for the conservatives: they’d have to MOVE there.
