If FR had to close up shop, I imagine a lot of folks would miss it...and wish they had loosened up the wallets a little.

Thanks. I share your frustration. These things are going so long now. Yeah, I know a lot of people don’t have a lot of discretionary income, but nothing?? Ya can’t throw $10 bucks in the pot?

It is taking almost the full quarter of the FReepathon to reach its goal of $88k. On the FR home page it says:
"Over 300,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic since inception in 1996 "
I've often thought that unless you are a contributing member of Free Republic, you should not be allowed to post a thread. Reply? Sure. But leave the postings to those who invest.
Would that severely limit the number of threads? And would fewer threads lead to less FReeping which would....?
