*snicker*
It was either Grayling or Battle Creek but a local resident called our unit during one Annual Training complaining about a tracked artillery piece in his garden. At least they didn’t park it on his car.
Tank, or 1960s auto, same effect on the Toyota.
I can’t BELIEVE I an the first to say:
Never bring a Toyota to a tank fight
Jeeze, FR, get your game back!
I want to make an ice cream truck out of a converted Unimog and drive down the street playing theme music from WoT.
A local brewpub used to have one that was originally a fire truck, that had been converted to hold kegs and dispense beer. They’d show up for your event/party and such. Truly an awesome thing.
or
That’ll buff right out.
BTW, tanks always have right of weight.
Escorted by a loltraktor painted up as Herby to Luvbug.
WoT got you too?
#2 Son (17) is becoming a very accomplished tanker. I think he’s advanced all the way to having some Tier X stuff, but he plays at all levels. Most recently, he’s taken up playing anti-arty to very good effect. He’s helped train several new players, and his clan just picked him to play for them in some upcoming tournament or other.
I balk at the amount of time he’s playing, but the social interaction, the forced strategic thinking, the forced awareness of consequences and implications — this stuff is REALLY good to develop. The grasp of implication is something he was sorely lacking on some aptitude testing a year or so ago, so having him engage a platform that forces him to develop it — it’s like focused education by the back door.
I’m hanging around Tier 1 as I’m actually not very good.
But even I recognize when a flank collapses..
Get on sometime and look up cpr_0917; part of 2nd North American clan. As long as you don’t make a habit of just trundling right on out into the open, he’ll likely have the patience to help you level up. Watching him, the game got a WHOLE lot more fun and interesting as he moved up the Tiers.
Okers.
Here’s the clan roster for 2nd Nor Am. He’s on now; they just battled the #1 rated clan in the world. Got beat, but got kills, so...not bad.

Having been an Army tanker, my then-fiancée dragged me along to one of her USAF reunions, she having been an A-10 avionics tech back in the days of the Pave Penny targeting system. A couple of the Wartie drivers were a bit standoffish with me, knowing I was a tank crewdawg and maybe a little sensitive to their unholy ways of doing business. That came to a screeching halt when I said words to the effect of What? You guys are tankers too, it's just that your tanks fly, and you wear those blue bus driver outfits when you're not really working.....
I never bought another drink the rest of that weekend. Yep, I've got one of their squadron flight suits. And I sent them pictures of me wearing it during an Abrams gunnery demonstration shoot.
I agree with you 100%. Thank you for your awesome story, thank you for serving our country, and wear your ear protection.
Ear correction? What??? It's hard to hear you with this CVC helmet on, especially after having the sound of main gun rounds ping off the right side turret wall into my right ear.
White beer? What???
[Oh, and no thanks necessary. It was fun for the most part, and a wild ride for a 20year-old. If they hadn't have paid me to be there, I'd have paid to get to be there.]
During REGORGER ‘81, in return for free ice cream my buddy Bert and I pulled a German ice cream truck out of a hole on a tank trail with my M113 APC.
I think the Good Humor Man would rather have stayed stuck.
When we were done we had pulled his spare from under his truck, bent his back bumper into a Vee and when he got high centered, dragged his truck on it’s belly with the tires dangling for a couple of feet, then on it’s side for a couple more when it fell over from being high centered...
...still, in a tribute to German automotive engineering he left the forest under his own power....
Ya gotta wonder; if the way out of that hole was that bad, how’d he get in there in the first place? With all of the damage from getting hauled out, I can’t help thinking it may have crossed his mind to just have you unlimber the main gun on the thing, and put it out of its misery.
