Authorities also reported six new cases of infection from the virus, raising the total to 25 since the first case was confirmed in May. That infection was of a 68-year-old South Korean man who had visited Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
South Korea is considering an overseas travel ban for almost 700 people isolated for possible infection from the virus. However, authorities said on Tuesday there is insufficient evidence to declare an epidemic.
Of the six new cases reported Tuesday, two are people who didnt come into contact with the original carrier, authorities said. Instead, they contracted the virus from another patient. That has raised concerns about a broader person-to-person transmission of the virus but authorities said it was unlikely the virus would spread to the local community. All those confirmed as infected are under quarantine.
MERS belongs to the same family of viruses as the common cold and SARS, or severe acute respiratory syndrome. Most cases have been reported in Saudi Arabia, where it was first identified in 2012.

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...
