Since the devices first went on sale in April, Apple (AAPL, Tech30) has received 7 million orders in total and shipped 2.5 million watches so far, according to a Global Equities Research report, citing tracking methods used by app developers.
Apple is expected to deliver about 5 million Apple Watches by the end of the quarter, which is two times more than analysts expected, Trip Chowdhry, Managing Director of Global Equities Research, told CNNMoney.
This would beat the company's previous "new category" debuts -- the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.
Apple shipped 3.3 million iPads during the first three months of sale five
Compared to these past product launches, there's no doubt the Apple Watch would be Apple's most successful device debut to date. However, its sales have had a major advantage: The Apple Watch is the first consumer product Apple has released in more than one country on the same day.

I really love my watch, it makes things easier for me, no more running around to find my phone! Plus a lot of other cool stuff! It was a worth while purchase for me!
Dude, you sound like a digital “Mailbox Man”.
Can I use it with my droid?
No.
Don’t care for the watch but just keep that stock price ratcheting up!
I saw a C-Span3 discussion about publishing, which featured an analyst who projected (among otyher predictions) that Facebook and Apple stocks would go up strongly. He predicted a $1 trillion market cap for AAPL.But the interesting point he made was that Apple is a luxury brand, and by bringing out the iWatch it has broken out as such - it isn't limited to a single competency but might go anywhere.
Another interesting point (unrelated to Apple) is in today's dead-tree WSJ, where the point is made that Moore's Law is affecting Shale Fracking. It turns out to be a big information problem to steer the drills where they have to go. One thing and another, the article asserts that a version of Moore's Law is happening in shale - and the price of fuel is on a long-term exponential decline.
So, it just bumped a 52 week high. If I’d had the cash right then, rather, been able to tie it up for a while, I’d have grabbed the pre-split stock, enjoyed the ride, and been out of it by now. ;’) The market seems to act as if the stock is overpriced, but that’s usually the way it goes with Apple, when the up move starts it really gets rolling.
I’m really surprised at this. Much better than I expected. I see no need for it myself but I might reconsider after a couple of product generations.
