This all hits a speed bump the first time a kid gets hit in a school crossing or gets knocked off his bike. Lawsuit city.

Google claims that its cars have 75 years of US adult driving experience

Does this mean they drive like the typical 75 year old? LOOKOUT, GRANDMA!

Just a thought - but these are going to quickly become targets for vandals and thieves. Probably something Google isn’t thinking about.

Unmanned, wealthy corporate vehicle coming through the hood after dark? Get the rocks ready!

I really want to see one of those cars drive up here with all the deer and elk running around. We have rock slides and fallen trees as well. All that happens in less than a second.

Yeah I think this thing is being exaggerated. I mean how does it know the difference between a rock in the road and a paper bag or the difference between leaves in the road and broken glass? Or how about when a cop want you to pull over, does it recognize lights in the rear view mirror? This thing cannot be driving at any reasonable speed.

They react faster than you even first see the obstacle.

I will never have an only self-driving car. Forget that crap. I will turn off as much of the computer as I can.

Of course the cost and concerns liability insurance for self-driving cars would keep an ordinary company out of the self-driving car business for quite a few years in the future. Just like they would have kept an ordinary company out of the nuclear plant business back in the 1950s.

But General Electric and Westinghouse were not ordinary companies back then, and Google is not an ordinary company today.

Can anyone identify what made GE and Westinghouse so special back then, and what makes Google so special today?

DOA. Every time I read about self-driving cars I am left wondering about terrorists loading one up with explosives and sending it on its merry way. And, yes, maybe it requires a warm body to initiate. Okay, so they tie up some poor soul and dump them in the car. The result is a Google-delivered bomb.

What’s to stop them now from parking a truck and walking away?

How about Google comes up with self-driving buses. Then we could fill the with illegals and ... “away we go!”
