A crane hauling an air conditioner into the top floor of a 30-story building dropped the heavy load Sunday morning, smashing parts of the building and injuring 10 people.
Workers were loading the shipping container-sized machine into 261 Madison Ave. when a rigging strap holding the air conditioner broke, a city official familiar with the ongoing investigation told the Daily News.
The chiller sheered the building as it fell. Debris rained down on Madison Ave. around E. 38th St.
Part of the 30-story building's facade near the roof was bashed open.

Some of those brownstones don’t have elevators.
I remember the time Kramer and I had to carry Keith Hernandez’ air conditioner up three flights of stairs....

LOL. I’ve already been taken to the woodshed for not reading the article but I doubt a brownstone would go up as far as the article states. Plus, unless you go over to the far eastside, there are no brownstones in that area.

Probably lifting too heavy a load with too light of a crane.

Was it a Commando 8?Yes, but unrelated to the Commando 450 Showerhead
Commando 450 (related term: Commando 8) 1. black market shower head made in the former Yugoslavia. 2. only used in the circus for elephants 3. quote:
from what I hear the Serbs are fanatic about their showers.

Typically the company doing the lift (The crane Company) supplies the equipment like spreader bars, chokers or straps on a highrise lift. The workers just follow the direction of the company hired to do such a lift. A but quick to put the blame on unions i would say.

They use the Commando 9 to air condition the Sears Tower.

Probably lifting too heavy a load with too light of a crane. IIRC, the article said a strap broke.

Talk to someone else. I didn’t say it was being hauled up to a brownstone. For God’s sake, I know the area and there aren’t any brownstones.
