Measuring just 10 inches long, Carter Lake should never have made it past his first few desperate hours outside the womb.
When his mother Jennifers water broke barely half-way through her pregnancy, doctors warned her they would let the baby die if he was delivered at less than 24 weeks. Resuscitation and life support at that point were futile, they insisted.
But four days later, Lake spontaneously gave birth at home and the minuscule, 22-week infant was sped to hospital by ambulance, where staff took him without question to the intensive-care unit. In the ensuing days, though, doctors and nurses at St. Josephs Hospital in London, Ont., repeatedly urged he be taken off life support.
They told me every absolute horror story in the book, says Lake. They told me that he wouldnt survive, and if he did by some miracle survive, he would have no quality of life
and most likely be a burden on me.

What ever happened to the Hippocratic oath?
Maybe medicine should be used to I don’t know....heal them!
The world has gone mad.
Socialist healthcare - kill the sick, and by definition, all the living people are healthy.
the world HAS gone mad and part of that madness is we think we can make people live at our whim, and make them die at our whim as well....
We live in a lost and dying world.
I recommend dropping these pediatricians off in the Kalahari and letting them die.
Im going to go out on a limb here and recommend letting all Canadian pediatricians whio have no respect for LiFE,,die
From what I have just read I suggest that every expecting mother lie about when your last period was adding one month. It could save your child’s life.
First, do no harm ..(what I remember most from the Hippocratic oath.)
“.. every expecting mother lie about when your last period was..”
They determine the date based on sonogram size and fetal development. Unfortunately, not knowing the date or estimating doesn’t help. :(
If they wanted to, they could figure out the best ways to keep these tiny people alive and healthy. Someday.
Why isn’t keeping people alive profitable for these businesses? Are they getting money for killing them? It’s always about money.
Yes they do go by ultrasound. When my husband and I were trying to conceive I was charting my temps every day to know exactly when I had ovulated. I pretty much knew the very day I got pregnant just from my charting. But, I have always had irregular cycles, so when I went to my first appointment with the OB they went by the ultrasound and not my charting. So, immediately they were telling me I was a week further along than I knew I was, based on the ultrasound, which when printed out has a note at the bottom “+ or - 7 days”. Now, as the pregnancy progresses if you are coming up to your predetermined due date and aren’t showing any signs of delivering soon they will pressure you into a c-section. Tell em you’re a month ahead, even if they did listen to you, and they’d be pressuring you to have that baby by c-section a month too early.
These doctors and nurses chose the wrong profession. There are plenty of others who would accept the challenge of saving a life.
we always tried to transport moms at high risk for premies to a hospital where they had an ICU for babies.
If the kid delivers in a small hospital or at home etc. The chances of staying alive are low. And it also depends if the kid has a low APGAR....if he responds to resuscitation. you deliver a feisty kid and can give it proper treatment, then why withhold treatment?
It is hard sometimes to know where to leave a decision to Mother Nature as it was in the days before medical technology had progressed to this point. Medical technology and medical ethics have become a problem, not just in the case of little ones but, also, in the case of the elderly, who are severely ill and limited in the possibility of survival without life support. I believe that the very cost of artificially sustaining life when it is very precarious will eventually make these decisions and they will be made by governments under government health care.
In other news, Premies recommend that Killer Pediatricians receive post birth abortions
Carter Lake story is a heartwarming one, his mom should be proud that she put faith in GOD. Carter uses a wheelchair...no big deal.
I recommend that we let all atheist environmentalists die.
They don’t believe in sanctity of life and the believe humans are destroying the planet.
This best fits with their beliefs.
