A 2006 police report detailing Josh Duggar’s molestation of his sisters has caused a media firestorm, yet the document has also revealed another detail that the Duggar family has yet to address: namely, the assertion by one of their children that Jim Bob and Michelle use a rod to spank them.
The allegations surfaced in the police report, which was released in a redacted form last week by In Touch Weekly. The report includes a summary of a conversation which occurred between an investigator and one of the Duggar children, who remains unnamed.
“Inv. Taylor asked [redacted] about getting spanked. [redacted] said that when [redacted] is bad that [redacted] mother and dad spank [redacted]. Inv. Taylor asked what they use to spank. [redacted] said they have a rod. Inv. Taylor asked if they do this to all the kids and [redacted] said yes. Inv. Taylor asked if they leave any bruising [redacted] said no.”

Of course that doesn't work if you have a bald child. I usually found a loud "Ow" would stop biting behavior in those situations. Probably scared the heck out of my kids, but it never hurt them.

So they spanked their kids with a rod/switch etc. Its pretty crazy seeing the left go nuts over the behavior of a 14 year old kid who touched girls while they were sleeping through their clothes. It was dealt with and stopped before it became a worse problem. The only problem is that now years after the left see fit to make a big deal about this as if they have any moral standing involving sexual issues at all. This is more about tearing down a good family (notice I didn’t say perfect) who represents a big departure from the modern self first ideology. We should all pray for the Duggars as well as their detractors. Sadly there is a lot of envy involved especially from those who wasted their reproductive years on “fun” who will die alone along with their family heritage. I think this is an example of how God reveals all especially for those who he loves.

I remember being whomped (a two-stroke, whomp-whomp) with a hand on my fully-clothed, padded backside, on just a couple of occasions in my young childhood. Once, quite small, I was face-down on the floor in a screaming, kicking, and flailing tantrum. My father grabbed me by the back of the T-shirt, pulled me up and whomp-whomped my butt with his hand. That absolutely cured the tantrums, permanently.
The second time was when my brother chased me through the house and trapped me between the bathroom wall and the open door of a tall metal cabinet. I gave a big push and the cabinet pitched forward, spilling newly-laundered towels into the bathtub, splattered with the contents of broken iodine and medicine bottles. My father again. Whomp-whomp on both my brother and me.
That never happened again.
It was a happy childhood.

Does not seem newsworthy to me. Lots of parents use spanking. Most conservatives believe discipline is primarily a family matter. When laws are needed to protect children from their own parents, society is at a tipping point of self destructing.
Such laws should be implemented at a local level or at worst, state level rather than federal. There is far too much intrusion of the federal government into our lives and it has proven to be far more immoral than anything the Duggars have been caught in.
Our federal government is promoting incest, homosexuality, child abuse and murder.
That being said, my personal opinion, which I would not seek to impose on any other families, is that the Bible does NOT teach using the rod on girls. I see scriptures advocating corporal punishment on sons but not daughters. To me, corporal punishment should either never or extremely rarely be used for daughters.
Child abuse is usually the result of anger. Anger damages children even when there is no physical abuse. If parents discipline their children with a “rod” or some other method, they need to be sure they get rid of their own anger first.

Honestly, I have never heard of anything like it. I believe corporal punishment (spanking) works.
But hitting a baby every time it tries to crawl off a blanket? And some here want to say criticism of that is based on "envy"?
