Anyone can declare that they are running for office. Gaining access to the ballot is another matter.

"VERY appropos: crunchy, nutty, and melt under heat."

Yep, I think that we have seen this disaster movie before...

There must be nice easy money in this gig, even having chances of snowball in Hell.

It will settle down to Cruz or Walker. Just because I have seen Cruz in action I pick Ted.

Even though Carly has zero pol office experience, she’d be a top notch Cheny style VP. Really like her going directly after hitlery, especially doing a Presser in same town in SC, same time as hitlery won’t be having a Presser.

Rove: “Let’s see — if we can pay 30 conservatives and pseudo-conservatives to primary each other, maybe LibJeb’s 19% will be sufficient to get the nomination

Exactly. On the other hand, we can always hope that candidates like Rubio and Perry will take as many votes from Jeb as they do from authentic conservatives.

Ninety-percent should drop out now. The party definitely needs a grown up to say, please drop out for the good of the party.

At one level, I completely agree that this glut of candidates just fragments the conservative vote - I'd much rather see a race with 2-3 electable alternatives to the RNC's establishment candidate of choice. On the other hand, "drop out for the good of the party" sounds like something Karl Rove or the RNC higher-ups would say, i.e. "Grow up and stop supporting unelectable Tea Party candidates, and stand behind 'winners' like Jeb."

The upside to having so many candidates is that conservatives don't march lockstep like Democrats do. Hillary only has one declared primary challenger (Bernie Sanders, who really is unelectable), and isn't likely to have more than 2-3 additional challengers when all is said and done. If the Republican party were as disciplined as the Democrats in backing an anointed candidate, we'd have a situation with Jeb running unchallenged except for some fringe noisemaker or two on the sidelines.

I wish the candidates that are outside the top 5 would be honorable enough to know it and step aside. Like said earlier, this is a money making scheme for most of them. They might get higher speaking fees and resume booster, to hell with the country.

Part of the problem is the false legitimacy given to unelectable candidates by media outlets, including conservative ones. As I've asked before, would Fox be taking Ben Carson's or Carly Fiorina's candidacies seriously if they were white or male, respectively, rather than tokens of inclusiveness? After all, how much air time to Skip Andrews or Michael Bickelmeyer get on Fox?

Most of these people will drop out fast. Only 10 are getting on the debate stage. My short list is Cruz, Paul, Trump(if he runs) Walker, maybe Fiorino if she keeps attacking Hitlerly. I think Jeb may not even announce.

Trump is Exhibit A for unelectable vanity candidates who run solely to keep their mugs in the limelight. What exactly would his "candidacy" bring to the table?

Well if Trump announces I think you will see that he is a very serious candidate and he will be very competitive. If he runs on jobs he’s got a good shot. People are sick of being out of work and they are sick of politicians lying to them.

“...Rove: “Let’s see — if we can pay 30 conservatives and pseudo-conservatives to primary each other, maybe LibJeb’s 19% will be sufficient to get the nomination...”

I don’t know if I should laugh or cry.
