I don't represent Free Republic and I'll let them answer that for themselves but you might want to check out their monthly budget here.

A budget of $30,000 a month does not seem excessive to me for the amazing breadth of content that is provided.

I subscribe to the Wall Street Journal which is part of a billion dollar corporation but I get more knowledge and information here.

If all visitors, including trolls and foreign intruders were not allowed to post, and $1 a month or the equivalent could, that might make this place a lot more pleasant, and perhaps nudge many on the fence to make the modest sacrifice.
It would certainly take some of the pressure off from the quarterly ordeal.

More then a Amen, I have a problem when I look on here and see how many do not give. I just cannot wrap my mind around that, and a lot of times it is people that use this site a lot. When I was young we did not have a car, when it was raining the neighbors that did, would stop by and give us kids a lift to school, when I came home my Mom would have some cookies are something baked for me to run over to their house with a big Thank you from her. Taught me some good upbringing and teaching. If you use the site and it brings you pleasure help out, it is costing someone something. Wow probably my longest post.

You do realize how offensive it is for you, or anyone, including the government to declare what others should be able to afford?

That many visitors are on the economic edge is not something most Americans are particularly eager to publicize.
