FULL TITLE: 19 Kids and Counting taken off the air by TLC in wake of revelation that son Josh molested young girls and his parents Jim Bob and Michelle covered it up
19 Kids and Counting has been taken off the air.
The show has not been officially cancelled at this time, but has been removed from the network's lineup.
The move comes one day after Josh Duggar, the oldest son of the family featured on the program, admitted that he molested young girls when he was a teenager.
Making matters worse, it was also revealed that his parents worked to cover up this scandal.

Here’s the thing... it appears that the people who felt something just wasn’t right with this family were correct. A lot of perverts seem to be involved in the affair.
IMO, something still isn’t right. There is more to this story. Just a hunch.
So.. basically you are fine with him being a pervert because you are one of those who fawn over his family.
Gotcha.
“You are a very sick individual for not acknowledging that 14 year olds know the difference between right and wrong”
Liar. I have clearly acknowledged the seriousness of what he did. He is responsible and he will carry the shame of this for his whole life. The only people who should have the right to bring charges against this man are the victims or their parents.
Interestingly enough, if the 14 year old had been a girl who entered into a sexual relationship with someone over 18, most people on this forum would be arguing she has zero ability to understand or consent and that the other party is 100% to blame and should be castrated, put in prison, raped in prison, and then go to hell forever.
But of course this is not a 14 year old girl. Since it is a boy, he should be imprisoned, raped, and sent to hell. And anyone who disagrees with this is obviously a “sick individual” who also should probably undergo the same treatment for his thought crimes. /s
I think that the defenders are missing the point. There is a difference between forgiveness and consequences. It really doesn’t matter that he is forgiven, there are still consequences - both to him and the girls he molested.
“it appears that the people who felt something just wasnt right with this family were correct”
Perhaps something isn’t right in your family and you just aren’t aware of it. The difference here is that it did get addressed where most of the time it is never addressed and victims have to suffer in silence or worse they get co-opted by the left as examples of how these types of sexual acts are okay.
As I mentioned earlier, Kevin Jennings, who Obama made school safety czar, is the founder of GLSEN and promoted children reading about children being sexually assaulted in ways worse than what happened in the Duggar home as if these acts were a positive thing. See Queer 13: Lesbian and Gay Writers Recall Seventh Grade and Passages of Pride. These books are promoted by the left and reveal that they really have no problem with the sexual assault under discussion. They are actually promoting this behavior openly. And what they really want is to destroy any positive role model for traditional Christianity and conservatism.
I don’t think he has a get out of jail free card because of his repentance. But if so, then it would be a great defense. Rob a bank, go to church and confess. Or you are in jail for something, get saved, repent and be released.
“basically you are fine with him being a pervert”
Liar. Never said anything even remotely hinting that what he did was okay.
As I said before and you so carefully avoided responding to in order to make your vile, malicious, lying attack... Have you only had monogamous sexual relations to a woman you were married to your whole life? If not, doesn’t that make you an adulterer deserving the same fate as you wish on this man?
Do you want to hold him and others to a different standard than yourself? Would it be wrong to assume you are lifelong practicing adulterer? Or do you want to go on record before God that you have never committed any sexual sins that God says are worthy of death?
Unbelievable. You are making an equivocation of adultery and sexual molestation of children?! What is your deal?
“there are still consequences - both to him and the girls he molested.”
Yes there are. And the whole family is experiencing those consequences right now.
But for those who think this guy should be in prison being butt-raped, or that he should be labeled a sex-offender for life and unable to get gainful employment, or that he should die and go to hell, I just want them to go on record that they want the same standard applied to them and their loved ones whenever ANY infraction of God’s moral laws are committed that God has said deserve death or hell.
So, you want to bring back stoning guys like this to death for his incestuous assault? Fine, but let’s take a look at the moral life of those advocating such before they start gathering the stones.
What fate have I wished on this pervert?
I sure as hell did have relations outside of marriage.
I never diddled any little kids. Big difference.
Maybe somebody should take away my reality show where I pretend to be a holy roller, huh?
As I said on earlier posts, those who have been trying hard to destroy this family and their TV show actually advocate these type of sexual assaults as being normal and healthy.
The penal, education, and child protective systems that you place such great confidence in ARE NOT going to bring about a better resolution to this than how it was already handled.
.
>> “how come they know so many sex abusers so well?” <<
.
Because in our present society, the sex violators out-number the behaviors.
.
They're the same comments posted here when it came out that Lena Dunham fondled her sister. Or do the Duggars get a pass because they're driving the conservative, Christian "family values" bandwagon?
.
>> “You are making an equivocation of adultery and sexual molestation of children?! What is your deal?” <<
.
That’s a hell of a big strawman you’ve erected there, and I have a match...
The boy was one of the kids himself when the diddling took place.
What did you do when you were a kid? I’m sure we can find plenty of cause to put you away for life; are you ready to fess-up?
.
“You are making an equivocation of adultery and sexual molestation of children?! What is your deal?”
I’m sorry. Did I hurt your feelings by saying so?
Most molestation, especially the kind that never comes to light and gets addressed and dealt with, happens at the hands of mommy’s new boyfriend. The moms often deny it, or ignore and tolerate it.
And womanizing men are often the cause of mommy being divorced or otherwise with kids with no father in their lives. So, quite often, adultery directly leads to molestation and sexual assault of children.
So you want to explore whether sexual assault of a child is better, worse or equivalent to adultery? I think worse.
Either way, God said in both the Old and New Testaments that adultery deserves the death penalty, the same penalty that God says this incestuous assault deserves.
You may think “consenting adults” is a reasonable moral standard for society to follow, but God has made it clear that “adulterers and whore-mongers” He will judge.
So you are another one dismissing the awful molestations this person committed. Are you unaware that 14 year olds are regularly charged as adults in society? You should be ashamed of yourself for dismissing the horrors these children may have gone through.
You are not worth countering anymore because clearly you don’t understand the gravity of sexual abuse.
“They’re the same comments posted here when it came out that Lena Dunham fondled her sister.”
First of all, not from me.
Second, her own words were “...anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl I was trying.” And there appears to be no remorse or ever an attempt to undo the damage caused by her actions. As I have pointed out earlier, the left really has no problem with the acts that occurred. But in the Duggar case, some effort was made to address what happened and not justify it or treat it as okay.
While I do think child molesters should pay a severe price in a just legal system, there is not a one size fits all solution.
I think I have been consistent in pointing out the justice demanded in the Bible, and where and why mercy can be appropriate.
“do the Duggars get a pass”
No. I would be very happy to have heard that Lena Dunham had the same remorse that this guy had, and that those she harmed have been able to forgive and find healing. I think how the Duggars handled what happened is a model for how society should deal with the pervasive perversion that is present now.
If you think for one second that what happened in rare, I can tell you from first-hand experience it is now the rule rather than the exception. Do you plan to imprison half of the population?
“I sure as hell did have relations outside of marriage. I never diddled any little kids. Big difference.”
On judgment day, I suggest telling God that you deserve to go to Heaven because you never diddled any little kids and are therefore a morally upright person. /s
Under God’s laws, according to what is written in both the Old and New Testaments, both you and this man deserve the death penalty. (And in interest of full disclosure, so so I.) But thank God there is a possibility of mercy for all of us.
It might offend you to realize it, but God requires you to come to Him on the same basis as this incestuous molester if you want mercy for crimes you have admitted to committing against Him. Otherwise, you will find no mercy or forgiveness even though this offender may find them.
It makes some people feel good to compare their moral lives to someone who they are easily convinced is less moral. But God will judge us by comparing us to His Son, not each other.
“You are not worth countering anymore because clearly you dont understand the gravity of sexual abuse.”
Or maybe because you can’t win the argument using merely logic and reason?
Fine. I was not really seeking for you to deem me worthy of conversation anyway.
For the record I do take the issue very seriously. I do understand how horrible the damage to victims is. The issue is how to deal with crime, moral failure, and sin after they have occurred. How do you pick up the pieces of shattered lives? What can an offender do? What should happen to an offender?
In my opinion, the tragedy that happened here was dealt with about as well as anyone could hope. But now many right-leaning people are showing full on support for the left at revictimizing the victims and destroying a conservative, Christian family.
