May 22, 1985 - Thirty Years ago, One of the Best summer movies started with the priemere of two movies - Rambo: First Blood Part II and Roger Moore's last as James Bond "A View to A Kill".
The Bond series has been going down hill with the exception of The Living Daylights.
Rambo First Blood would produce two sequels, one in 1988 and one in 2008.
One thing that surprised me is that Roger Moore is older than Sean Connery.
He was the oldest actor to play Bond in his first Bond movie.
When Happy Days came out it took us back about 20 years. That would take us back to the 1990’s today.
Heck. Happy Days debuted over 40 years ago.
I think I still have a few VHS tapes of off-air recordings dating to 1983. Amazing how much more quiet and low-key the commercials used to be then.
My 30th reunion is this year. My where had the time gone
Blame the writers. Don’t blame Roger Moore who had a terrific career as an actor.
People don;t get the final rant by Rambo while talking to the Colonel about “I get to the airport and those bastards were spitting on me. How the hell do they know what we went through?”. He was speaking of liberals.
\
Besides, the sheriff was a dick.
I got his rant, I was in the Army during the war.
Thank you, Sir.
Good song.
Oh, I thought it was moochele.... Before the hormone therapy.
The sequels to ‘First Blood’ have all been terrible.
The 80’s were the best.
Best President
Best movies
Best TV shows
Best music
Everything seemed a lot better back then. People were nicer, there was less of the me first gimme gimme I’m special kind of arrogance, and less hostility.
Most sequels are worse than the original.
There are a few that are well written and directed that actually carry on the story line. Then you have others where the studios cut corners to milk the cash cow for all its worth.
There are some movies that are instant classics and should not have sequels or be remade. For example “Red Dawn”, and “The Crow” are two of those instant classics IMO that should have never been touched. They ruined The Crow by making that horrid sequel The Crow - City of Angels and the five other progressively wretched sequels. Now they’re working on remaking the original. Then there is Red Dawn. The original featured Russians, Cubans, and Sandinistas invading us which was a very plausible story line. In the remake they got rid of the Russians because they didn’t want to get Putin’s red lace panties all in a was, and they wrote out those human cockroaches from south of the border because that’s too close to what’s really going on.
SIMON LE BON!!!!!
Yes, you’re right. Take me there, one way.
“Best President”
It begins and ends there. Margaret Thatcher and Pope JP 2 (A REAL Pope, not an irma worshipping commie like today*) were in place, but RR was the straw that stirred the drink. Everything else fell into place after RR was elected.
Pretty much EVERYTHING from inanimate objects like TVs thru to peoples’ mentalities were better than today, and better by large margins.
*As a few of you know, when I went to the Vatican in January, 2014, I bought a set of blessed Roasry beads (with the Antipope Francis on them) and put them at Mom’s stone at the cemetery. I ttook them and hrew them in the garbage ~a year ago when this turd’s radicalism became obvious.
My 25th is coming. Time flies.
And no, I’m not going.
This weekend, AMC is having actual AMERICAN movies on this weekend starting tomorrow with The Dirty Dozen and an all day Rambo marathon on Sunday.
Dirty Dozen... one of my favorite old movies.
Lee Marvin did a great job in that one. Telly Savalas was an excellent nutjob.
Bronson, George Kennedy, Borgnine, John Cassavetes, Richard Jaeckle, Clint Walker.... all good stuff.
