From using cell phones and computers to watching movies online, wireless technology has made life easier. But now, some say there is a serious downside.
As CBS2s Maurice Dubois explained, there are those who claim that exposure to wi-fi is making people sick, and some people dont even know it.
Brain fog. Thats my worst problem. A brain fog, Suzanne Hoyt said.
Hoyt said that nothing prepared her for the rush of symptoms that she suddenly developed.
Headaches, perspiration, pain in my jaws and my heart. Its like physical expansion of the heart, she said.
Hoyt said it all started when she installed wi-fi throughout her apartment.
I started to be very uncomfortable, and I didnt know what it was, she said.
With wi-fi everywhere, from parks to restaurants and taxis it turns out Hoyt is not alone.
It was like a deep burning sensation in my face, in my nose, my jaw, it was like a deep burning sensation, she said.
Its called wi-fi sensitivity, and doctors say its a very real condition with serious consequences.
Dr. David Carpenter, an Environmental Scientist and expert on wi-fis effects said the scientific link between wi-fi and health is clearly emerging.
There is a body of evidence that is strong. its not 100 percent understood, but its strong evidence that this is a real syndrome that causes real harm to real people, he said.
Dr. Carpenter said its a significant problem for about 5 percent of the population, many of them have no idea that wi-fi is to blame.
They walk around feeling ill and they dont know what to do about it, he said.
Other doctors counter that the evidence connecting wi-fi to illness just isnt there.
Its a psychological phenomenon, neuropsychologist Dr. William Barr said.

You might try listening to the episode, so you would actually know his expertise is from military training and research. Your posting history is quite revealing ... And now you’re trying to dismiss this line of enquiry with the same technique you use on other threads to cause dissonance. By what screen name were you previously posting at Free republic?
“you would actually know his expertise is from military training and research”
I looked for any verification of his claimed “military training and research” and there is none to be found, and not even any evidence of the outfit he claimed to work for actually existing. So, unless you have any actual documentation to verify that, I have to conclude he’s just making that up.
“Your posting history is quite revealing ... And now youre trying to dismiss this line of enquiry with the same technique you use on other threads to cause dissonance.”
LOL! Someone bursts your conspiracy bubble by simply asking for the bare minimum documentation, so they must be part of the conspiracy! Classic paranoid thinking.
“By what screen name were you previously posting at Free republic?”
This has always been my screen name, I’ve never been banned and I’ve never had any other account.
Again you use insult try dismiss a post and the creeper. Such arrogant methodology says all I need to conclude you are ... Well, not someone who will deserve any further attention from this freeper. You are a professional negative naybob, with about the depth of the Trinity River. Bye bye

You getting offended by “insults” is truly rich, when you just tried to imply that I’m a retread and a troll, with zero evidence. Don’t want to be insulted? Then don’t post junk science and toss out insults when other FReepers ask you to back up your nonsense assertions.
I trained at the Governments Microwave Warfare establishment in 60's. I worked with the underwater bomb disposal unit, which used microwaves. In the 70's I helped de-brief spies trained in microwave warfare. My first degree is in Physics (I specialised in microwaves) My second degree is a research degree. I have a teaching diploma in human physiology. I teach advanced physics and mathematics at South Dartmoor College. Author of the Tetra Report for the Police Federation. I predicted the illnesses, which the officers now complain of. I predicted the illness's the residents now complain of. These are illness's that occurred before my report was published and cannot be psychosomatic. At a conference in Birmingham I said: "This Government, Industry and Government Scientists will be responsible for more deaths (of civilians) in peace time than all the terrorist organizations ever." The evidence I have is showing this is correct. I put my money where my mouth is and stand my ground.
Some posters at FR are not just posters, they work for an agenda ... an agenda converse to Freerepublic.
Are referring to ‘posting history’ as something you want to reference about posts on this thread? Or others not connected with this thread? Just asking.
Wow, you really think the mods are going to care that you got “insulted” because you’re posting junk science from a non-credentialed, non-expert and people called you out on it? Get a grip!
Anyway, let’s review those “credentials”:
“I trained at the Governments Microwave Warfare establishment in 60’s.” - No government agency by this name appears to exist in any verifiable form. The only references to anything by that name come from Trower himself.
“In the 70’s I helped de-brief spies trained in microwave warfare.” - No real citation offered for this, so there is no way to verify it.
“My first degree is in Physics” - Seems to be telling the truth about this, but doesn’t specify the institution so not really verifiable.
“My second degree is a research degree.” - Research degree in what exactly, and from where? Trower doesn’t say, so there is no way to verify.
“I have a teaching diploma in human physiology.” - Again, no insitution specified, so not really verifiable. As he is a high school level teacher, I think we’d have to assume that this was a diploma to qualify him to teach high school-level physiology, which doesn’t qualify one as any kind of expert on biology, physiology or medicine.
“I teach advanced physics and mathematics at South Dartmoor College.” - “South Dartmoor College” is not a university, but a middle school/high school. So he is not teaching “advanced physics”, because they do not teach “advanced physics” in high schools or middle schools. I think we can safely say he is being purposefully deceptive here.
“Author of the Tetra Report for the Police Federation.” - The “Police Federation” is not a scientific journal, so this isn’t really a credential worth mentioning, but I guess it’s all he has got. Surely if he had ever authored a peer-reviewed paper, he would mention that instead, no?
If you think that people around here are going to be impressed by that list of “qualifications”, I think you are going to be sorely disappointed.
“Some posters at FR are not just posters, they work for an agenda ... an agenda converse to Freerepublic.”
Are you talking about yourself here? Posting junk science and attacking people who question it (and calling in the mods to try to suppress such questions) might make this site look pretty bad.
Simple troubleshooting technique.
