Concur - the article doesn’t seem to indicate that it’s a mixed bag that you pick from, but seems to try and say that you have to have all these. In my current role I’m more of a ‘let ‘em live a life’ while asking as much as I can type; when in an earlier role it was ‘do it or get fried cause I don’t wanna die’ type :) part of that is me maturing and part of that is the role and me realign not wanting to join Davy Jones.

Looks like you got your commission two years before I did. One thing I took curious note of during that time frame was the number of cadets who I saw really trying to emulate R. Lee Ermey's Gunny Hartman from Full Metal Jacket, which came out in 1987. That's when I started making mental notes about the actors vs. the real deal. In looking at the list in the article, the first item about bragging, can cut either way. I've known some leaders who were truly humble people. But I also knew some louder, bolder braggarts and
if they clearly demonstrated they were willing and able to back up their words with action, they had no problem getting people to follow them to the gates of hell and back...
