'Bin Laden's bookshelf' includes porn, video game guide, mushy love letters

In the years before U.S. special forces killed Osama bin Laden in 2011, the al-Qaida leader was an avid reader — and possible porn enthusiast — and worried about his family, all the while making plans for more terror attacks.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence released 103 documents, called "bin Laden's bookshelf," which were seized during the deadly raid of the terrorist's compound in Pakistan. The materials include letters to his four wives, 20 children and terrorists; 39 English books; news clippings about al-Qaida and former U.S. president George Bush; religious books; a Delta Force Extreme 2 video game guide; and a suicide prevention manual.

The recovered items reveal bin Laden appeared to be obsessed with conspiracy theories about his Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks against the U.S. and American military tactics.

In a letter to one of his wives, bin Laden expresses a mushy side.

"Know that you do fill my heart with love, beautiful memories, and your long-suffering of tense situations in order to appease me and be kind to me, and every time I thought of you my eyes would tear for being away from you," he wrote.

Bin Laden's book collection included left-wing works by Noam Chomsky, Fritz Springmeier's Bloodlines of the Illuminati, and Richard Sprague's The Taking of America 1-2-3.

In one letter, he advised his fellow jihadists to seek medical care and take care of their teeth.

"Our security situation here does not allow us to go to doctors, so please take care of all your medical needs, particularly your teeth, and keep the prescriptions from every doctor you go to so we can get the medication when you come to us," he wrote.

The items were declassified in a bid to follow U.S. President Barack Obama's call for more transparency, national intelligence director Jeffrey Ancukaitis said in a press release.

Officials said they're reviewing hundreds more documents for possible release.

Some items that were reportedly seized but won't be released include a "modern" and "extensive" pornography collection. Reuters first reported about the porn weeks after the raid and said officials were unsure where exactly in the hideout special forces found the stash.

*al-Qaida job application declassified

Among the items U.S. Navy Seals seized was a job application for al-Qaida that included questions ranging from hobbies to "Who should we contact in case you become a martyr?"

It also asks would-be terrorists to "Please enter the required information accurately and truthfully. Write clearly and legibly. Name, age, marital status. Do you wish to execute a suicide operation?"

Reminds me of a story about a marine in Iraq pulling guard duty at night. Guy had night vision keeping lookout, and he saw a shape off in the distance. He got some eyes and checked it out, and he could see I was moving rhythmically. Looking closer, turns out he was seeing some guy doing a goat. Says “that $#!t had me f____d up for two weeks!!” I thought it was hilarious. A lot funnier when he tells it.

Al Qaida obviously has a better healthcare provide than Obamacare.

I don’t play the war game videos but if anyone out there knows Call of Duty’ could he be studying them to see how our troops maneuver?

My son played them and I would watch occasionally.

If a mooselimb wishes to carry out a suicide mission, do they have him read the suicide prevention manual?
