Spent lots of time in my youth out there and college at Lubbock, it is some pretty dry desolate country - photos sure look nicer than the countryside does, best people in the world in west Texas
And even one of its urban area is good. Lubbock consistently ranks in the top tier of most Conservative cities.
I totally agree about the quality of the people of West Texas. They make up for the harsh climate that tests the mettle of newcomers to this Big Sky Country. I miss them.
Not the end of the world. But, you can see it from there.......
