Donald Trump Will End Outsourcing If President
Huffington Post ^ | Posted: 05/18/2015 1:15 pm EDT | Lauren Windsor (I think anyway)

At the South Carolina Freedom Summit, Donald Trump said that he would impose a hefty 35 percent tariff on American multinational corporations like Ford Motor Company, in order to stop outsourcing to China and elsewhere. According to the Economic Policy Institute, between 2001 and 2013 the U.S. trade deficit with China cost 3.2 million jobs, with the majority of the losses coming from the manufacturing sector.

“The Changan Ford Hangzhou Plant represents a US$760 million (RMB 4.9 billion) investment and is the sixth assembly plant producing Ford vehicles in China, increasing capacity for the automaker by 250,000 vehicles. With a new manufacturing base in eastern China, the Hangzhou plant will help Ford meet rapidly growing demand from customer across the country.

“This world-class facility will help us accelerate the delivery of high-quality, innovative products to our customers in China,” said Mark Fields, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company. “The new 3-row Edge demonstrates Ford’s commitment to producing quality, safe, fuel-efficient and smart vehicles.”

So the cars that Ford makes in China are sold to Chinese customers.

I agree it would be even better if we made the cars in the US and exported them to China, but the Chinese would probably not be able to afford the cars then.

So why is this bad?

Why he can't get the nomination? Well, you answered the question yourself in your post. You stated that there's a 'huge' segment of the populace that is fed up with businesses selling out America, and then follow that up with how one may see proof of this by going to any town in America and looking at what is at sale at the Walmarts. That's the issue CCC ...as one checks out what's for sale at those Walmarts, one will also notice that those supermarkets are full of people buying that stuff. That's the fatal flaw with your argument ...while there are many people who are wary of the flow of businesses outside the nation, the fact remains that there are many more who simply couldn't be bothered.

Think about it in a different way, if even on FR Trump gets significant pushback and little traction, how is he to be expected to get national appeal? That point alone shows your man's in trouble, but to keep it even simpler the 'Walmart test' shows that most people simply don't care anyway.

That is the crux of what we are competing against.

A system which has turned “free enterprise” completely on its head.

America needs to keep free markets. China on the other hand, just keeps on developing and building ever more, in China, for China and for everywhere else.

More cars. More of everything.

China does NOT have free markets. Why should ours be?

That is my point. Why does America give everything away to everyone else?

It is time to look out for America. That is my point.

America first.

Trump is an embarrassment. All he wants is some publicity. He doesn't want to really try and get elected.

“Why would Donald not get the nomination?”

Because he’s an arrogant, self-serving, bullying buffoon. That’s why.

Well...that might mean more jobs here, but just be ready for big time price inflation as well. Everything is going to cost more. The question is if the newly created domestic jobs would pay enough to offset the higher prices.

You do realize other countries outsource jobs here, what happens when they retaliate by pulling those jobs?

I’m just being realistic about Trump’s chances of getting the nomination. I truly don’t believe that he is who we need to lead this country.

We need someone who will bow his head every day and humbly ask God for Wisdom. That is not who Donald Trump is.

As I said, let him contribute those tallents that he has to help bring industries back to America. He could concentrate his time and knowledge in that area more effectively in a cabinet position. If what is driving him is a true concern for our country, he will be willing to do that. If he’s not willing, then I guess it’s just an ego trip, like so many who are jumping into the race.

My understanding of the current trade treaties is they have the equivalent of a suicide clause. If we pull out and decide to no longer honor them then our trading partners get to impose whatever levies on US goods they choose. We will have no say whatsoever. That means outgoing trade would screech to a halt. This would be a huge disaster.

Let it happen...We can still produce every thing we'll ever need...

There are about 94 million people who have given up looking for a job...They might care just enough to cast a vote...

Trump was born in New York City in 1946, the son of real estate tycoon Fred Trump. Fred Trump’s business success not only provided Donald Trump with a posh youth of private schools and economic security but eventually blessed him with an inheritance worth an estimated $40 million to $200 million.

It is critical to note, however, that his father’s success, which granted Donald Trump such a great advantage, was enabled and buffered by governmental financing programs

double no thanks to donald
