perhaps Orca is too young to remember that one.....

oh wait The Amos 'n' Andy Show began airing in1951– .and airing as syndicated reruns (1954–66).

Amos ‘N Andy. I heard it as a kid when it was on the radio. It was the name of my first cat. I thought the title was one word!

Question; Was Samantha of AMOS AND ANDY white? I remember seeing an advertizement for some product, and the “white” woman was a spitting image of Samantha! Or was it Samantha done up in white face.
I was just a little kid but I noticed it!
