Stephen Hawking is in agreement with Ray Kurzweil.

They only disagree on the time line. Ray Kurzweil believes it will happen in 14 years.

Cool - let ‘em take over for me. They can pay my taxes, cut my grass and deal with all these liberal idiots, while they’re at it...

If AI gets control, they’re going to have little use for humanity, especially the groups committing mayhem on a daily basis. Might end up having a Butlerian Jihad a few thousand years ahead of time.

When one considers how far we have advanced in both medical and computer technology in just the past 25 years, I can’t imagine what life will be like a hundred years from now.........I’d sure like to be around to see it.

How do we know it has not already happened in his case? We just think it was Hawking that said this. Maybe what we think is Hawking is just a blob of non-sentient flesh and bone - the computer took over long ago.

Unplug it I say.

Hawking is a huge liberal/marxist.

Notice that all these liberals do is behave like chicken littles, “global warming will destroy the world” . that's another lie as global warming is a hoax.

Liberals say Everything is going to kill you or is bad for you or will destroy the world :oil ,coal ,global warming, sugar salt ,caffiene, fast food, eggs( oh not anymore ), trans fat, ozone layer, computers, "AI", blah blah blah. remember the soda ban? the DMAA ban, the ephedra ban, the war on coal.

It's all to keep people scared and weak and begging the gov for help

There’s an interesting movie called “Children of Men” where society is ending because humans can no long reproduce. In the film, the problem is not by choice. People are trying, but women just can’t pregnant. I’m starting wonder lately if the falling birth rates all over the world could go to zero, more or less voluntarily. We know that when recessions hit, people reproduce less. If automation replaces say 30% of jobs in the near term birth rates would likely crash. That is happening now in Japan. Something like half the adults in Japan have no interest in sex. What if that happened with 3 times the intensity everywhere. What if humans just went on strike?

In Dune by Frank Herbert, humans had a commandment “Thou shalt not make a machine with the likeness of the human mind.” In short, artificial intelligence was illegal as well as a sin.

The fastest computer is still only a box full of high-speed relay switches, running instructions sequenced by a sentient being. Hardware and software will never reach self-awareness and decide to “take over” any more than my Ronco Vegematic will. SciFi is entertaining, but don’t accept implausible ideas as inevitable.

Relax, Communists or muslims will destroy civilization before thinking machines do.
