Sea Lion Bunks With Sleeping San Diego Sailor
NBC San Diego ^ | 5/11

Posted on 05/11/2015 8:56:33 PM PDT by nickcarraway

A noisy stowaway woke Michael Duffy as he was docked at the San Diego Yacht Club on Saturday.

The San Diego sailor woke in the middle of the night to sneezing, but didn’t think much of it and went back to sleep.

He woke the next morning at 6 to a curious sea lion asleep on a bunk bed in his sailboat. In adorable video captured by Duffy, you can hear him urging the sea lion, “You gotta go, buddy” as he nudged the animal out of the boat.

Once the two got to the dock, Duffy had to nudge him in the water: “Hop in. Hop in,” he says. “Go. Go. Go. Good job.”

Then, the sea lion dove into the bay and swam off.

Over the past few months, wayward sea lions have emerged in a number of unusual spots. In March, one hopped up on a surfboard in Cardiff.

And in April, a sea lion pup waddled to a high school in Imperial Beach.

A cute story, but sea lions will take over a marina and foul boats with the most obnoxious offal....making those boats ususable and unsellable. The owners will never, ever, get the stink out. That is if the sea lions don’t sink the boats in the process.

Funny, I was wondering how the guy managed to stay asleep! What a cute story... Some folks have dogs follow them home, some have stray cats and put food out for them, this fella has a sea lion that didn’t want to leave! Thank for the post!

If not him it has probably happened to many a San Diego Sailor.

Notice he called him BUDDY.....

Kind of like the retired Gen hired his Enl ‘Butler/Man Fri’ upon retirement.
The Butler asked what his duties were and the Gen said basically the same as when we were in the Army.

Next morning the Butler/Man Fri showed up in the bedroom @ 0500, patted the Gens wife and said...”Ok honey, back to the village we gotta go to work”.......

Now, SD is certainly a lot more homo than it used to be, but maybe it was just a simple mistake..................

My eyes still water from the memory of standing at Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco watching the Sea lions. A visiting sister demanded that I take her there after a trolley ride. We stood at least 30 yards away, and still the air was foul with the stench of those sea mammals. I was thoroughly disgusted, and never understood the fascination.
