The man who became known as the 'Baltimore Batman' for his heroic actions during the city's riots earlier this week has been revealed.
Brian Woodyard was pictured on Monday night wearing a face mask and holding a machete outside The Old Clubhouse bar in Baltimore, Maryland, where he works as a bouncer.
He told Local21: 'I asked them to please let me stay in because I could set up a defense.'

LOL - yes, there were heroes... but a machete? Looks like he’s ready to clear swamp in Florida...

Proves that rioters are cowards. One man with a large knife! And he holds of a whole city full of animals.

Don’t know what he was paid, but it wasn’t enough.

A propos of absolutely nothing.

This is what courage looks like today. It’s dramatic and it’s convincing.
It’s obviously effective.

Not what I’d ever take to riot.
He could be a mental case.

I would.
That’s the next line of defense when the bullets are gone.
Preferably two of them.
then you’ve got knives. A couple collapsible batons.
Don’t forget a couple pepper spray cans, big bear ones.

Danny Trejo would probably be more effective, and he will make you

A machete will be at the top of my list next time I head into violent widespread unrest.

Get one with a hand guard. People always make the mistake of getting machetes without hand guards.

BMX armor would be a good thing to have too, especially the kind with the serious lumbar and neck protection.

A stout machete is tantamount to a single edged short sword. You can do a lot of damage with one. But you need to keep the edge sharpened. It will get dull just sitting on a shelf unused.
I have spent a lot of time with machetes. I have taken down trees up to 8 inches in diameter using it like an axe.

I prefer a long blade bolo with serious but not too much tip weight. Really has enough mass to cut thru heavy stuff but light enough for some decent speed. Oh, with a hand guard too.

In my several run ins on Staten Island with Obama’s sons when I was younger, I learned a few things. They hate a fair fight, aren’t very good fighters, and their mangling of the English language should be a punishable offense.

Get a good reproduction of a Samari sword on eBay for around $400.00. Then, train with a good martial arts instructor and learn how to use it. For close combat, nothing beats a 3’ long hardened steel razor blade in the hands of someone who knows how to use it.

I have never used a bolo. I will use whatever the bossman buys as long as it is not junk. There are a lot of junk machetes on the market.
On my old property in WA I found an old machete with a wood handle. The blade is beveled on one side only.
