The players of the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox lined up for the national anthem this afternoon in front of an empty stadium, in unprecedented scenes never before witnessed in the history of baseball.
With the National Guard posted outside Camden Yards and debris still being cleaned up off the streets, the Orioles played the first ever MLB game behind closed doors.
Just before the players took the field The Beatles 'Day Tripper' blared out the PA system to an otherwise eerily silent stadium and 45,000 empty seats.

This is happening to prevent three scenarios from occuring. One, where game attendees are attacked outside the ballpark. Two, rioters buy tickets and game attendees are attacked inside the ballpark.
Three, game attendees are attacked and, having significant strength of numbers, fight back.
The police just ushered them away before 40,000 Cardinal fans could get their hands on them.
I forgot about the lost revenue in parking. Up here in Boston it costs $20-30 to park near Fenway during a game. If 10,000(a conservative estimate)automobiles needed to park around Camden yards today, that is another $200,000 or more in lost revenue.
I pointed out on FB last night that what happened to the Caps fans who went to see them play the Rangers would be magnified a thousand fold if 30,000 baseball fans were confronted by a couple hundred rioters.
The Progs on my friends list didn’t like that. At all.
