The Baltimore Orioles said they would postpone a Monday night game after consulting with police…

Attendance may drop off longer term, if these riots get worse, and people decide its too dangerous to go into Baltimore City.
Time to build the stadium outside the city.
Forfeiting games will have a much more memorable effect. Maybe the baseball fans will start shooting the rioters.
America’s natural pastime dumped for a new one.. Rioting!
This is terrorism!!
That’s going to make some powerful and wealthy enemies for the city. Those are major financial hits both for the teams and the city.
I heard that relocating to suburbia was part of the decision of the Atlanta Braves to build their new stadium in suburban Atlanta. In many cities the stadiums are downtown or in marginal neighborhoods. If too many people decide to.avoid going into central cities for ballgames or other events, Sports teams could find themselves in financial trouble long term.
I like the O’s, but shouldn’t this be a forfeit, rather than a postponement? The White Sox are there and ready to play.
The city of Baltimore can’t control its thugs and guarantee the safety of its citizens.
That’s certainly not the ChiSox’ fault.
Methinks the U.S. Justice dept., the FBI should be investigating these riots.
Oh, wait a minute...

good. time for businesses to feel the effect of these utterly worthless animals.
The Nationals are in the middle of a long road trip, I wonder if they might play some games at Nationals Park if this goes on. Hard to say, the Nats are suing the Orioles over MASN rights and the Orioles are counter suing them and MLB.
Freegards
They just built this one. Camden Yards opened Apr 06, 1992
Good point.
Turner Field is newer and already Atlanta is building a new stadium outside of downtown.
Now things are getting serious! I am shocked by this development. To let these thugs actually shut down a ML baseball game is unbelievable!

12 A troublemaker and a villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth, 13 who winks maliciously with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers, 14 who plots evil with deceit in his heart he always stirs up conflict. 15 Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyedwithout remedy. 16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Proverbs 6: 12 - 19
Baltimore is asking for this debacle....they showed who’s side their own when they let ferals attack innocent bystanders and businesses...
The financial hit is going to be enormous, far beyond baseball. They’re afraid this is heading to other areas of the City. (Baltimore isn’t Ferguson.)
I remember standing outside my home, on the day that MLK was killed, and seeing the smoke rising over DC. I didn’t understand it then, and I don’t now - no matter what any sociologist tries to tell me.
I keep thinking of all the people (many, if not most, *Black*) who won’t be able to get perhaps life-saving meds, because the drugstores have been looted; people who won’t have jobs, or will lose wages, because the businesses they worked for were closed or destroyed; or because businesses just decide that this is a lousy area to set-up in the first place.
A few minutes ago, the Baltimore mayor at least had the guts to call these rioters out for the Thugs that they are.

They can forfeit if they want.
