Apple reports earnings for the quarter that ended in March after the market closes on Monday, April 27.
Get ready for another monster report.
Analysts are expecting big iPhone sales and think Apple could provide a major update to its cash return program.
According to data compiled by Bloomberg, analysts are looking for $56 billion in revenue, which would represent 23% growth.
Apple's revenue growth is expected to be driven by strong iPhone sales. Analysts are anticipating that Apple sold 58.1 million units, which would be an impressive 33% increase.
If Apple sells 58.1 million iPhones, it will be the second-biggest quarter for iPhone sales in Apple's history. Apple's biggest-ever iPhone sales happened during the previous quarter, when it sold 74.5 million iPhones.
Just a year ago, people were thinking that Apple's iPhone business might have run its course. Unit growth was down to single digits, and it looked like Apple was going to have to lower prices to reignite growth.

Is the left going to go after them then? Or is that reserved for oil companies?
tax-dodging, plus pandering their products to their liberal, gay-stapo base certainly is profitable.
Just another 25% increase in their share price and they will be the first trillion dollar company.
Mostly they just reinvented themselves as a jewelry marketer.
The Apple watch doesn’t stand out performance-wise in the smartwatch field but they make some pretty ones.
“Tax-dodging”
Legal tax avoidance - a moral imperative. Do you pay more than you are legally required to pay? Why?
Don ‘this forget to ping Swordmaker to the thread ... :-) ...
We’re for lower and less taxes here on Free a Republic, not more taxes ... :-) ...
Apple will do well for one reason: the iPhone 6 and 6+ models are the iPhones that everyone has been waiting for. And unlike almost every Android phone out there (with the notable exceptions of the Google Nexus series of phones and the Xiaomi phones as sold in China), Apple completely controls the updates for the phone, which means timely updates to add functionality and correct bugs of earlier versions of the phone operating system.
I'm hoping that I did my part to help Apple have a good quarter. I am really happy with the iPad by the way and the speakers sound great.
Maybe I'll swing by there in the next week or two to grab one of those Apple Watches that everybody is raving about.
Hope they go broke. Soon.
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
I challenge the members of the Apple ping list to each donate at least $10 each to the latest Freepathon. I HAVE donated $100. Many members of the Apple Ping list are already rising to the challenge. Join them. Let's show the power of the Apple Ping list in supporting Freerepublic!
You’re going to have a long wait.
They already are. They are demanding that Apple bring home the already taxed profits that are held overseas so they can tax them again at 35%. . . and hauled them before the US Senate in 2013 claiming they had not paid any US Income taxes at all. . .
Tim Cook testified before a US Senate committee and showed them that in 2012, Apple had paid more US Income Taxes than any other business and in fact was paying $1 out of every $40 of US corporate income taxes. Oops, the Democrat staff had not done their homework. Apple pays the income taxes in every legal jurisdiction in which they do business, they do not participate in the double dutch sandwich, etc. And the money in Ireland is there because it has the lowest Capital Gains taxes and that's where Apple transfers already taxed earnings from the rest of the world so it can safely be invested at the lowest rate.
But the Liberals are going after them. . . here and in Italy. There the Italians want to ignore the EU regulations and tax Apple under non-EU rules.
See my last reply on Taxes. You are wrong about "tax-dodging" unless you want to believe the Liberal, gay-stapo base. . . who goes after Apple's already taxed assets.

Apple Users who have been around for the last 30 years, have heard that refrain from certain Apple-haters. Those people have been predicting the failure of Apple for as long as I can remember!
We’ve got a Freeper who has been predicting the failure of Apple by next year, for the last 10 years that I can remember ... :-) ...
They’re kinda like “negative groupies” ... LOL ..
Earnings of $2.33 per share from revenue of $58 billion
Capital return program increased from $130 to $200 billion
Dividend per share increased by 11% to 52 cents per share
61.2 million iPhones sold
12.5 million iPads sold
The continued strong sales of the iPhone 6 models show the decision to build larger screen iPhones was the correct one.
Don’t miss the funeral over here!
Woo-hoo! My Apple stock has more than doubled from when I bought it and now dividends are going up again. I’m a happy investor.
