... a new study shows.
It took a "study" to figure this out? A "study" undoubtedly paid for via a taxpayer funded grant.

Wood added the study provides the most detailed look yet at tsunami risksI'd hate to see the previous reports if this one is the most thoughtful.

But what about the people who are already on high ground...shouldn’t they walk slower?

I have GOT to get myself a federal grant to do an irrelevant study that draws stupidly obvious conclusions.

Duck and cover would save even more lives in a nuclear blast, and people mock the heck out of it for some reason.

I recall videos of Japan's tsunami where people were just strolling up the hill, then got washed away.

And how much money did they spend trying to figure this out?
I figure these are the same people that spend millions trying to figure out why is ice cold and coffee hot.
To: Citizen Zed
NO! NO! NO!
They don't need to walk faster. They need to start walking sooner!

Emergency preparedness experts generally agree that after the quake and tsunami, most roads will be too damaged for driving, so people will have to walk to safety. Ever get into a crowd all moving the same way (evacuating an event like a concert or sporting event)? Ever notice that some people stop or walk against the motion?
Magnify that by 100.
And a stampede that encounters some stopage or slow down would increase the body count (not from the storm, either).
