Emergency preparedness experts generally agree that after the quake and tsunami, most roads will be too damaged for driving, so people will have to walk to safety.

Ever get into a crowd all moving the same way (evacuating an event like a concert or sporting event)? Ever notice that some people stop or walk against the motion?

Magnify that by 100.

And a stampede that encounters some stopage or slow down would increase the body count (not from the storm, either).
