Wildlife officials armed with shotguns will be increasing patrols of Palm Beach County canals from once a month to four to six times a month to try to hunt the reptiles down, according to the Sun Sentinel. The plan is to catch or shoot the lizards on sight they've got 20 in Palm Beach since July.

I do like reptiles, but he’s very bad for eating cats, so until he mends his ways, I withhold my scratch.
(He is cute, though).
FWIW, it would have to be a very large monitor and a very small cat, and even then it’d probably prefer easier prey.

Shoot those ugly things! And the Burmese pythons, and the African rock pythons, and all the other dangerous non-indig crap idiots dumped out into Florida wilderness. They give legitimate lizard keepers a bad name. And, kitties should be safe from those monsters.
