With lawmakers preparing to vote on a bill blocking parents from skipping vaccinations for their children, prominent vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr. arrived at the Sacramento screening of a film linking autism to the vaccine preservative thimerosal and warned that public health officials cannot be trusted.
“They can put anything they want in that vaccine and they have no accountability for it,” said Kennedy, who walked onto and left a Crest Theater stage to standing ovations, of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Wednesday afternoon will see the first hearing for a bill eliminating the personal belief exemption parents can cite in order to avoid vaccinating their kids. Senate Bill 277 was prompted by soaring exemption rates in some schools districts and outbreaks of long-dormant diseases like measles and whooping cough.
Kennedy has credited the film Trace Amounts with helping to persuade lawmakers to halt a vaccination measure in Oregon. Advocates offered free Trace Amounts tickets to every California lawmaker, visiting offices in the State Capitol on Monday to drop them off. Three rows cordoned off for lawmakers sat empty on Wednesday evening, though some staff members attended.
The overwhelming scientific consensus supports vaccine use and dismisses any serious side effects. Multiple studies have rejected any link between the mercury-containing chemical thimerosal and autism. Nevertheless, vaccine manufacturers have removed thimerosal from nearly all childhood vaccines (some influenza vaccines are the exception) and a California bill further barred thimerosal content.
In light of those facts, SB 277’s author called Kennedy’s continued activism disingenuous.

well, not to be argumentative, but you’re not trying to argue that just because it might not be the “most” deadly, and just because it’s a “tiny” amount, it’s ok to put in the body even though it’s not allowed in landfills?

Despite a Kennedy supposedly being “against” it, it’s still idiotic.
I have a base metal allergy and had to make sure I didn't use any eye drops that were preserved with thimerosal. I have not see any eye drops in stores that have thimerosal for many years. I first became aware of my metal allergy in basic training when I had to wear my locker keys on a chain around my neck. [we were not issued dog tags in Jimmie Carter's Air Force] The next morning I was scalded with big red blisters where the chain and keys had touched my skin. The TI made me use a bootlace and a holder for my keys after that. Similarly, the Thimerosal in eye drops would cause my eyes to turn red and burn after only a couple of minutes.
If there is any correlation suspected between thimerosal in vaccines and autism, the logical solution is to continue the program to remove the thimerosal from vaccines. It ain't brain surgery and it defiantly is not global genocide, mister Bobbie Kennedy Junior.
If one wants to remain healthy, the first thing one should consider is avoiding the doctor’s office.

When I was a kid we used to take mercury and rub it on a penny with our fingers to coat the penny and make is shiny silver. That probably put about ten billion times as much mercury into my blood stream as one vaccine shot with thimerosol would.

The EPA has never been known to overreact. And as for not putting mercury into the ground. Where exactly do you think mercury comes from to begin with?

There’s a difference between elemental mercury and ethylmercury which is the ingredient in thimerosol. They are metabolized completely differently by the human body,with ethylmercury cleared completely within a few days. And the dose of mercury in thimerosol containing vaccine is about 20 micrograms.
The ELEMENTAL mercury that ends up in landfill can be converted by bacteria into methymercury which can build up in the food chain, thats why mercury is banned in landfills. Even thats massive overkill.
