Announcing Surface 3
When we developed Surface Pro 3, we set out to design the tablet that can truly replace your laptop even your high-end laptop. Today we feel both fortunate and proud that the vision of Surface has become a reality with so many people using Pro 3 and loving the experience...
he result is Surface 3, as well as a mobile-broadband version, Surface 3 (4G LTE). Its the thinnest and lightest Surface weve ever shipped. It runs full Windows, including desktop applications. It includes a one-year subscription to Office 365 to help you really get down to work. And it starts at just $499...

Can the Surface send what you see on the screen to a tv using screen mirroring?
I can do this with my Samsung Note tablet and LG G3 cell phone.
Thanks!!!
#13 Tim Cook will hire George Takei (Sulu) as a spokesman.....
My job gave me one of these as a work computer. Was skeptical at first but itoo has won me over. Mega portable and has a docking station that works like a charm. Could use another USB port but other than that about as good as can be expected for something not an Apple.”
Does it have any full-size USB port? Or does the docking station?
I have a specific BT receiver that needs to go into a full-size USB Port.
The Surface needs a better looking keyboard.
They had “genius bars” when hey first opened up stores ... which looked almost identical to Apple stores.
I never saw one, but I heard the stores weren’t particularly successful and they closed.
Well, at least Takei has a good sense of humor. I'm not so sure about Cook.
Has a full size USB and the docking station has one as well. Need a splitter on the docking station for dual monitors, however. It is a relatively cheap item to obtain.
It needs a better typing keyboard, too. No key travel to speak of, mushy feel with lots of bouncy flex.
My Nokia Lumia 8.1 can project to a tv using an app called Beamer. It requires an internet connection for both the Lumia and the tv. I would imagine the Surface would have something similar.
Is that sending the video stream up to your wireless router, and then down into the TV? If so, do you have to configure static IP addresses in your LAN for the TV? Or is there some sort of magical "discovery process"?
Yeah, that's been a drawback from my point of view also. They really should try for something more professional, or sophisticated, or something... I don't know what the right word is for it, but whatever it is, they need it.
It's one of those characteristics that Apple tends to get right. Maybe Microsoft needs to steal some Apple human-interface design people. :)
Oh wow.
Whatever would I do with its whole 8 gigs of ram?

The keyboard looks cheap. For something that costs $800 it should note look like something Toys r US would sell.
I kinda hate to ask this, but.... did they stock the store with geniuses (as opposed to typical Microsoft support people)? Or was the "bar" really just a phone bank where you could call India?
LOL!

NICE!
I run an HDMI from my Alienware to a 60” Sharp 3D.
It’s like Photoshop at the drive in.
Major awesomeness.
:)
I still have my M17x as a backup.
I think that one only allows 16g.
Indeed. Now I have to wipe all the drool from my keyboard.
At least, I -think- it's drool....
LOL
