Laurence Fishburne, call your mother.
I hate to be the one to break the news. But the woman who gave life to the talented actor, who said she emptied her retirement savings account so her only child would grow into a star, director, producer and playwright, claims shes down on her luck.
Hattie Crawford Fishburne, 80, told me that, unable to pay the rent for several months, shes received written notice informing her shell be evicted from her Los Angeles apartment Tuesday.
And she said she cant reach her wealthy son, with whom she last spoke more than a year ago when his father died.
Hes gone Hollywood! Hattie Fishburne told me.
For 20 years, I funded my sons career, she said. He promised me he would take care of me. He promised me a house, a golden retriever, a calico cat. To this day, I have not got a Christmas present or a Thank you, Mama present. He hasnt given me a penny.
Im so hurt and disappointed.

Oh my gosh, that’s just plain mean. I don’t care if she wasn’t the best mom. She’s still Mom
There are only two possibilities:
(1) Red Pill: She was a horrible mother.
(2) Blue Pill: He is a complete piece of feces.
Votes?
I would have guessed more. Come on Larry pony up and help mom out.
This is only one half of the story. Let’s hear what Laurence has to say about dear old mom.
Maserati Marxist...and typical leftwing hypocrite
I'm leaning to "C" actually.
gmafb.
BTW, even in the Red Pill case, he should take care of her - unless something REALLY bad is involved.
I don’t care if she was horrible or not, the very rich should have in obligation to take care of their own; not the government take of them, as WE are the government and it’s our taxes that would pay.
Larry should hold his nose—if he has to—and buy her a nice house and give her some livin’ cash.
Even after she sent him the cassette tape to listen to, for comfort ,and to remind him of home, while on that river boat going up river to Laos.
He should get her a place to live and set up a fund to pay the utilities and taxes.
She should be getting enough from SS to buy food.
She might have been a horrible mom but still we are suppose to provide care for our parents. This does not mean we have to fund their every dream or even give them a hug. But a place to live, yeah, if we can we should arrange for that.
Could very well be.
“She should be getting enough from SS to buy food.”
BINGO! How come no one here thought of that?
If she supposedly stated she worked her ass off so her son can have a successful future, then she must have paid into her SS. I have relatives who even worked for 20 years, quit and retired. Here in L.A., even the worst freeloading bums get housing.
I knew a couple in South Alabama who had six children. Five of them were criminals but successful ones in that they were seldom caught.
The sixth was an outstanding citizen.
All six of them were pretty pleasant to be around but they really were crooks.
I just looked at his IMDB credits. Screen debut was in 1968, he was a kid. His big break was in 1979 with 'Apocalypse Now'. Between '79 and '90 he has about 40-45 screen credits.
Yes, I agree if mom is down, he needs to help her out. But there is more to this then we are seeing here. So it may be wise to withhold condemnation for awhile.
Funny you mention that.
I know a couple from Arkansas who had one child, though she may have been from another man. Both of them are criminals but very successful ones in that they were seldom caught, as they seem to get away with murder!
He is pretty pleasant to be around, she, well not so much (bit of a real Beech) but they really are crooks.
;)
she, well not so much ...
The Munchurian Candidate?
His daughter was doing anal porn.
