We have given up all store bought salves for back and muscle pain and use a peppermint essential oil with a lavender essential oil. First you rub on the peppermint and then layer the lavender oil over it. It works better than Icy Hot or Stop Pain.

Don’t forget the brass container. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, both of which have antimicrobial properties. All those acids, brewing in a brass container for several days, would mean a significant amount of metal leached into the brew.
