Is this anything like the Clintons canning the White House travel staff?
The last quote is the key quote, “I can think of a few”.
The few probably has to do with Michelle Obama.
The scent of flowers can only mask so much stench.
Michelle is personally offended with any floral arrangement that contains white flowers.
Probably more to it.... but maybe she is one of those type people that just don’t like alot of hype around her name. Maybe she just wants to quietly move on without a big stink.
Some people (like myself) don’t like alot of attention and don’t like to be seen.
A Laura Dowling Mystery.
pastry...flowers...maybe to make room for them to hire some gays?
i read this article earlier in the day and thot what a waste of space. it does nothing beyond repeating the obvious. no depth. no detail. no intrigue. i mean with the Clintons you found out they had guys who ran around the campaign trail for them in chicken suits handling top secret files for no apparent reason...
this reporterette has no future if she can’t even make the jump from rumor to gossip. go back to 6th grade hall lockers and repeat.
Maybe they’re paranoid about bugs in the flowers
Apart from cooking for foreign leaders/diplomats why do we need a White House “chef”? How difficult can it be to cook a couple of pieces of chicken (or steak),baked potatoes and a vegetable?
because the ocupants suck
Day before Valentines...
She walked into the wrong room to place flowers at the wrong time and saw the wrong act being conducted. Her astonished comment was, “ I thought they were just playing Spades in there....”.
After a few years, Mrs. Obama decided her true calling was working with people

This lady had a team? This sounds like something that could done for less by competitive bidding among local florists.
Who replaced her?
I can hardly wait for the ‘tell all’ books when these people are finally out of power.
So why exactly does the White House need a “chief florist?” DC has lots of privately owned flower shops.
In this town, matters of taste much like positions on marriage equality can evolve over time. Just ask Dowling, who left because her fussy style was not in line with the first ladys emerging modern and clean aesthetics, several sources said.Lauras work is just different. Im not sure if it was right for the White House, said one top floral designer in the area who has done freelance florist work for splashy big events at 1600 Penn. This designer, like many we talked to, spoke on the condition of anonymity because the floral community is very small, and nobody wants to put down anybodys work.
Another former area designer told us that Dowling had a very specific look, pointedly French, which lent itself to loose garden-style arrangements that were still quite formal. She wanted to create a look, said the source, and thats the look shes had for the past six years.
But recently the first lady has debuted a different aesthetic at the executive mansion.
Bigger question is why is there a full time florist at all.
