The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Good to hear that johnny.

Best way to control them is to pick off the seed heads before they fall to the ground and root. Then start cooking with what’s left. :)
I’ve been freeping since 98, think I signed up in 99. The gardening thread has been my favorite thread hands down. I’ll agree to post a picture of me, can’t manage everyone. I hope to post more pictures if I can ever get anything growing out there. Ground is still frozen.
Great picture of you and Marcella. Nice set up you have, lots of natural light and I see your monitor has FR on it.
You have grown a beard from the last picture I’ve seen, some years back and you are wearing glasses. Still nice looking. Marcella is a pretty lady.
I've always worn glasses since 5th grade (assuming that I know where they are) So I can't blame getting old on that. ;)

What a great pic! I wish my kitchen looked that good! :)
It's a blessing. Except when I have to sweep and mop, but guys don't do that much. ;)

And the other end of the 'kitchen' makes for a good kitchen.
Now I've got to find batteries for this stupid wireless keyboard so I quit dropping characters. Sheesh. Tomato starts don't require batteries. That would almost be easier. ;

It’s lovely. Whenever we have people over, they always congregate in the kitchen. It’s the heart of the home, I think. :)
In our old house, we had a “sunroom” where I started my seeds, but here in this house, I use the kitchen table. :)
But kitchens are natural social gathering place.
Think of the word 'hearth'. It used to be the center of all activity and cooking. Still is, in some cases. It literally is the heart/hearth of the home.

You're right. I never consciously noticed that before, but it's true.

As time has gone on, I’ve come to believe that cooking is more than simply feeding oneself and others. When someone cooks for his or her loved ones and friends, it is a form of caring and nurturing.

Yes!
Mark 6:41
And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
Best times of my life were feeding 1500 of my closest friends out in the wilderness. Would have been easier with divine powers. ;)

Wow. How did you do that? :)
