One of the world's weirdest fish has been captured making a rare appearance above the water. With its bulbous eyes, flat body and tiny fins, the Mola Mola is an unusual sight in the blue waters of California. But short of shying away from the camera the fish appeared to strike a pose. The photographs of the bizarre-looking ocean sunfish were taken by experienced diver Daniel Botelho.

third pic almost looks photoshopped.
Not at all an unusual sight. Called ‘Ocean Sunfish.’
They would look very appetizing for sharks and killer whales. Hopefully they could return to the deep before it’s too late.

Are they good eating ?
I do know their main diet is eating jellyfish.
Wow! That’s a huge fish. First pictures tricked me I into thinking it was smaller, like palm sized, but the video revealed its true size. I had no idea this beast existed. Very cool!
I saw one of these when I was a kid in the Gulfstream off of the South Florida shore.
Yup.
“Weirdest fish”?
Don’t you listen to those haters, Moolah Moolah. You are special! Special! Just because you look like a giant, milk-soaked cornflake, there will be people who hate you. Ignore them.
I distinctly recall seeing these fish at the Boston Aquarium. They were amazing to watch swim.
Agreed.
Many of them here in New England during the summer. - Tom
They are inedible. (Jellyfish diet does that)
Reminds me of a pre-war racing airplane called the GB R1.
lots of pics here:

You mean almost looks real.
I saw plenty of these critters while working on tuna boats off the west coast back in the early 70’s. Most were huge.
From Wikipedia: "Among humans, sunfish are considered a delicacy in some parts of the world, including Japan, Korea, and Taiwan."

Have seen many many of these off Santa Cruz in the Monterrey Bay.
Very cool, but not rare.
