Back in the fifties, we saw auroras from East Tennessee. As kids we were told that it was due to the atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons.

Excellent work. City lights and skyline, and always a challenging latitude, prevented our seeing even a soft glow, leaving no way to take advantage of the storm or of an old Moon.
