Sunday afternoon, two men were killed in a drive-by shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
Andre Chatman, 23, and Carey Hollis, 28, were in a car traveling east in the 5800 block of West North Avenue about 3:45 p.m., when another vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside fired shots, striking both men, according to police and the Cook County medical examiners office.
The vehicle briefly continued east before crashing into a pole at Massasoit and North.
Chatham and Hollis, who both lived in the 1000 block of North Mayfield, were pronounced dead at the scene, the Cook County medical examiners office said.

Matos, of the 5500 block of West Henderson, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:39 p.m., the medical examiners office said.
A police source said the shooting was gang-related, as gang slogans were yelled during the argument.
The most recent nonfatal shooting left a man injured early Monday in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side.
The man, 19, showed up at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston about 4:20 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. At least 21 other people have been wounded in gun violence throughout the weekend.
Just think of how bad it would have been without Gun Control!
/sarc
But Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation. How is this possible?
Must be all those law abiding gun owners from other states coming in and shooting people.
Obamaville
I think Chicago should enact some strict gun laws to quell this violence.
Both ballerina’s are wringing their hands................
Just watch..All 5 dead will vote in the upcoming election.
“I think Chicago should enact some strict gun laws to quell this violence.”
I’m sure you left out a sarcasm tag because you saw no need for it, but this is in all seriousness how a Progressive would respond to such reports.
Clearly the problem in Chicago is that the gun control laws just aren’t strict enough. The blood of those 5 dead is on the hands of the NRA.
“Five people were killed”
and those were just targets on Mayor Rahm’s enemy list.
It must be Spring.
Damn racist cops!
The Peaceful Muslim.
“Clearly the problem in Chicago is that the gun control laws just arent strict enough.”
I’m willing to bet not one of those laws contains the phrase “and we mean it!”
HANDS UP, DON'T SHOOT...PLEASE, DON'T SHOOT I'M BLACK AND I LIVE IN RAHM EMANUEL'S CHICAGO.
BLACK LIVES REALLY DO MATTER, maybe...
“It must be Spring.”
As the temperature rises the cockroaches come out of their holes.
