Kevin Hines was battling mental illness when he tried to commit suicide, but believed the sea creature kept him afloat and saved his life
A man who was suffering from mental illness and depression has revealed how a sea lion saved his life after he tried to kill himself.
Kevin Hines jumped off San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge in 2000, but against all the odds he managed to survive.
Hines told how his depression had led him to see life through a "bit of tunnel vision," leading him to think he had to die.

He told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "[I was] in the water desperately trying to stay alive and stay afloat, [and] I guess you would call it a mammal began swimming beneath me and I'm thinking, 'Oh man, a shark is about to devour me'."

"If at first you don't succeed..."
Now the headline:
Chicago man died after jump into Thornton Quarry
Now the rest of the story:
Seems the guy tried to off himself by driving into the quarry.
For those of you who haven't seen it, the Thornton Quarry is right on I80 in Illinois, just over the border coming West from Indiana. It looks like this:

Seems he tried to do the deed by driving his car over the edge, but he only fell about 40 feet to a service road and survived.
So he got out and jumped the rest of the way.
Unfortunately for him, there are no Sea Lions or Manatees in the Thornton Quarry.
(This is just one county West of the town of Hobart, where a man committed suicide by hitting himself on the head with a hammer - 39 times.)
stupid sea lion...

I think the dude is lion his aspirin off
[[where a man committed suicide by hitting himself on the head with a hammer - 39 times]]
You’d think after the 38’th time he’da said “Dang- this aint working”
Yup.
The cops went all out to save that dog.
If Obeyme federalizes the LEOs, we’re screwed.
“Kevin Hines feeling guilt because he was the last heterosexual in SF...”
Shouldn't he have welcomed a shark ? Jumping didn't work, good thing there's a shark to finish me off!
>>How does a guy who wanted to end his life get so much publicity for not ending it? If you want to go, get it right the first time!<<
No kidding - if nothing else, this is just one more thing he sucks at.
