New Ford GT to carry $400k-price tag
Autoblob ^ | 3/5/2015 | Noah Joseph

The last time Ford made a GT, it built more than 4,000 of them and sold each one for around $150,000. Judging by the premiums at which they later traded, they were evidently worth a lot more than that. But this time, the new Ford GT will be far more expensive and far more scarce.

Official performance, production and pricing figures have yet to be released, but upon the new American supercar's European debut in Geneva, Ford performance chief Dave Pericak indicated it would be priced competitively with the Lamborghini Aventador – which carries a base sticker price approaching $400,000, Car and Driver reported. Combine that with production expected to number in the hundreds, not the thousands, and you're not likely to be seeing any of these Blue Oval halo cars in your neighborhood anytime soon.

The question then becomes: will the price tag will be justified? With carbon-fiber construction and more than 600 horsepower on tap, it very well could be. And if speculators are going to drive up the actual sale prices, we don't see why Ford shouldn't get what the product is worth. But whether the world is ready for a $400,0000-Ford is another question entirely.

Mmmmm I have $400k to spend on a car and my choice is....Ford or Lambourgini. Which one should I pick?
For me there’s no choice. I’m gonna pick the Lambourgini and all the cache that comes with it.

OK, Ford.....this is my final offer.

The Yugo. Thirty seven bucks. A pair of used snow tires. A bag of apples.
I’d like it in red, please.

So Bugatti can’t afford to hide the windshield wipers so they don’t rip off at top speed?

As long as you realize that: at top speed, the life of the tires on that car, is rated in minutes.

Nah dude. $400,000...for an effing car? If there was a flux capacitor inside, sure :)

Sadly, O'Reilly Auto Parts only stocks Flux Capacitors that fit DeLoreans.

Mr. Fusion upgrade kits ( Part #121GMF) are also available.

I had so many old demolition bricks in the bed of my Chevy truck once that it almost got on its hind legs and walked.
The front tires managed to stay on the ground.

Well jeez look at the car and how theyspare no expense at aerodynamics and cutting drag down. Then look at the efing ugly windshield wipers off a modelt ford.

It’s not about market per sé, it about racing. Shelby didn’t build his cars for the market, only to satisfy the rules for the class of racing.

You know, the original GT-40 kicking Ferarri’s butt at Le Mans? That’s what it was about.

Besides, their engineers are pushing the state of the art for Ford. It does tend to trickle down into, one way or the other, the everyday drivers.

Every once an a while, you gotta push back the edge of that envelope, regardless of your business.

Anyone spending $2.5MM on a car capable of 267 MPH is not concerned with the costs tire replacement...

Lol!

Reminds me of the time we packed a washer in the back on my dad’s 74 land cruiser only my dad did tell me that the back air shocks were deflated. We did okay for the first 30 miles until we hit an icy patch on an over pass on the highway. We did a full 360. I did 45 mph in the right lane the rest of the trip into town.

A fine ride for the one percenters.

It is disappointing that my conservative brethren have taken to using progressive phrases.
