It Appears There Are Hijacked Freeper Accounts

I found three Freepers (in the last 24 hours that prior to a few days ago (10 days at the most) have not been active in a very long time...... At least a year and a half or more. The other two Freepers have no posts for 7 years and 3 years.

Now prior to that time gap all would have maybe 1 or 2 posts a years several years ago. Yet in the last few days they are posting a lot. I find that very odd?

I think these accounts have been hijacked by the opposition?

For those that are wondering what is an Internet Troll? Trolls, post a deliberately provocative message or messages to a newsgroup or message boards/threads with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. This is done primarily by opposition groups.

I'm sure someone could figure out WHO is doing this. We just need to do a trace route on the account to see where it's coming from.

Just for the record,

I do post often.

I'm not a troll.

But way back when, leftists were registering FReeper screen names at DU only to post outrageous lies and political stances so that anyone googling that FReeper would get a very warped impression of them.

To prevent that from happening to me, I got my very own DU account, went over there, made a few posts, made no secret of my FR affiliation, laughed t a few of their jokes.

Did they ban me?

Noooooooooo!

Indeed they seemed to like me.

Have you thought of the possibility that these folks deliberately took time off from FR?

Some quit posting because they got butthurt when they posted something stupid and were called out on it.

Some quit posting because they were called the aholes they were for being extremely crude and rude towards others here on FR.

Some quit posting because they challenged JR and then went to other so-called “moderate” sites where about all they did was complain about FR.

Some folks quit posting due to the abrasive and confrontational nature of some FReepers, crossing the boundary of good etiquette and courtesy.

Some go dormant because something in their lives has become more important than sitting on an on-line forum.

There are many reasons why...I even took over a year off from posting because I really needed to...a reset.

What if there ARE sleeper trolls? Most of us will not be influenced by them. Plus FR is not big enough to be enough of an influence* in any national election. Who are we kidding?? Many times, we can’t all agree on candidates, and we are an echo chamber about the great constitutional conservatives but can’t make a DENT in national voting.

In here, I am often fooled that we have a chance.

I don’t see the need or the usefulness of sleeper libs coming in here. Waste of time for them and us.

*we may have kept kerry out of the White House - we provided a great platform for the Swift Boat Vets. But he’s in there now anyway...

I do not know. All I can say, as someone who reads a great deal and has edited and written…writers have voices the way that people have faces. Do you know how you recognize a face? We do, but we don't know how we do it.

And the little signal goes off in my head, "Phony"--goes off on a regular basis here on FR. Then I pass the cursor over the sign-up date. Sometimes it's a newbie, an easy score. But often the sign-up is 1998! Getting close to twenty years.

Sometimes you can find a tag-team on a thread, but I don't kick up a fuss because I'm already accused of paranoia. But when you suspect a shill poster, go through the whole thread and compare sign-up dates. You'll find the cheering squad has the same date.

I think shills come in to float trial balloons, or to create a sense of momentum where none exists. And I believe that RINOS are likely the worst offenders, though I believe they may be actually paid by Media Matters.
