Why would anyone go to Datil?

Deer and elk hunting. Plus, you get to drive past the VLA and take in the plains of San Agustin.

Every evening when I get home, my dachshund and I go thru a vigorous reunion. Yesterday, my wife was not able to get home to let her out at her usual time, and my teenage son didn't let her out either.

When I got home yesterday, we started our reunion on our leather couch and all of a sudden, she backed up, started acting strange and was clawing at my leg. I had then noticed she had urinated on the couch. It was easy to clean and I let her out and made sure she relieved herself....poor thing.

Dachshunds ... wonderful dogs! Does she like to dig? I have a basset, rescued from the local shelter. She is the most affectionate dog I have ever met and the love of my life.

About 20 years ago, my young daughter kept pleading for a dog. We spent two days watching the Westminster Kennel Club show to learn more about each breed. Based on our lifestyle, we narrowed the list down to basset hound and have had them in our life ever since. I still watch the WKC show and just love the hound group. The hounds have such warm and expressive eyes. Very surprised and excited that a hound, Miss P, won Best in Show this year.

No, Ruby is not much of a digger, but what is unique about them from other breeds I have had in the past is that when they want to slumber in, they like to bury themselves under covers. The first night we let her sleep with us, she dove under the covers. I was quite concerned about her ability to breath. She is almost 6 now, and that is how she behaves every day/night.

The WKC show obstacle trials where on last night. Its the event where dogs of certain heights go against each other using obstacles. The Border Collies dominate these competitions.
